A large thick-legged figure crossed the road in front of the car, briefly turning its torso to look at the driver before continuing into a roadside ditch. The witness drove slowly past within a few feet, then sped away feeling watched without looking back.

Three backpackers sleeping on a beach woke around 3:45 a.m. when their dog ran to a nearby ridge and grappled with something. The witness ran over and saw an enormous figure in the dark that stayed silent when challenged. A companion later saw a torso-like figure put a hand on a rock at the top of the ridge and disappear, and reported an elk-like moaning sound during the struggle.

A family camped on a secluded lakeshore and walked to a nearby meadow. The husband alerted the group to company, and they heard loud crashing of branches breaking. The reporter glimpsed a tall upright black figure moving fast through the trees while her husband reported seeing another figure. They hurried back to camp without a logical explanation, and the reporter later heard loud distant noises overnight.

On his last night of work in 2010, the guest parked at his rented room on his boss's wooded property around 1 a.m. Birds erupted, then a loud rising howl-scream vibrated his car and silenced frogs and birds. He then heard movement and large rocks clashing in a ravine before running to the house and telling his boss he thought a Sasquatch was in the backyard.

The witness and a companion went into woods behind a relative's house to investigate dead fish found earlier by a pond. While the companion stepped away, the witness heard a noise and saw a furry figure peeking from behind a tree 50 to 75 yards away. The figure stepped sideways into full view, and the witness fled running back to the house. The companion did not see the creature.

The witness and a companion were in a boat heading toward shore at night when they heard splashes, smelled a foul wet-animal odor, and saw shoreline vegetation shaking violently. A large rock was thrown from shore toward them and landed near the boat. When they shone a flashlight toward shore they saw a large dark human-shaped figure with red glowing eyes partly obscured by vegetation, then yelled and banged oars before retreating to a safer distance and hearing a loud scream or roar as they loaded the boat and left.

Wood knocks, vocalizations and possible footprint found in rural cemetery near Shelbyville

Over a couple months of visits to a small rural cemetery, the witness and companions repeatedly heard wood knocks surrounding them, logs or objects being thrown, and a walnut thrown back toward them. They also heard growls, hissing, grunts, yells and screams on separate occasions, and once heard a large unseen thing charge to the cemetery edge then go silent. They never saw the source, reported no departing footsteps, and described a persistent feeling of being watched and warned from entering the woods.

The witness was camping at Upper Cascade Lake and walked to the shore to photograph mist on the water. Across the lake he noticed an animal splashing that stood upright, stepped toward the treeline, turned to stare at him, then disappeared into the forest. Startled, he returned to his campsite, loaded his gear, and drove away without seeing it again.

While riding in the back of a minivan through farm country on Route 1 in Delaware, the witness looked out at a cornfield and noticed a dark brown shape standing among the dried stalks about 300 feet away. She watched it for 5-10 seconds as the vehicle passed, describing a wide, tall shape showing head and shoulders above the corn. No other occupants of the van reported seeing it, and she did not film it.

The witness and a cousin were kayak fishing on a mountain lake when they heard knocking from a steep forested bank. They paddled closer and exchanged knocks by striking the kayak with a paddle for several minutes until the sounds from shore stopped. They waited and watched the area but saw no person or animal.

The witness was driving with family at night after leaving a resort when a deer ran across the road. Immediately afterward a large upright creature ran along the roadside beside the van, apparently chasing the deer, and looked toward the vehicle before dropping back and disappearing out of the headlights. The witness turned around to recheck but saw nothing. A son in the back seat also saw the creature.

Close encounter by a hunter tracking his dogs at night outside the Seney National Wildlife Refuge

The witness was hunting raccoons at night with hounds alongside a relative in marshy woods. After the dogs treed and the chased animal left the tree, the witness moved to a ridge to listen, noticed eyeshine, then saw a tall hair-covered animal about twenty feet away on the trail. The two looked at each other briefly, the witness does not recall how it departed, and a foul smell followed back toward the truck. The next morning the witness recovered the hounds still treed with a bobcat.

They drove toward a nearby police station but decided not to report it, then later revisited the site in daylight.

Possible encounter disturbs a camper in a high country forest

The witness was camping with relatives and was awakened around midnight by rhythmic stick-cracking sounds that moved closer and farther. He dressed silently and exited his trailer to investigate, after which the knocking stopped at a distance and a double whoop sounded from the direction where he shined his flashlight. He interpreted the sequence as involving two animals, with one acting as lookout. No tracks were found during a search the next day.

The witness took his family camping on the eastern shore of Cougar Reservoir. In the middle of the night something large approached on two feet from a hill, and he placed himself between it and his family while his partner moved the children to the vehicle. He fired warning shots, experienced distorted hearing and an intrusive thought, then saw a very tall wide black figure stop at the wood line about 12 feet away before he backed to the vehicle and left.

The witness was driving south with high beams on a rural mountain road in the dark. A tall dark upright figure crossed the two-lane road in three quick steps, showing long human-like bent legs, wide shoulders, and a large long head with a flat side-profile face. The witness stopped to watch, then drove forward but could no longer see the figure.
