The witness was scouting for a deer stand site in a swampy pine forest in the early afternoon. After hearing a distant splash and nearby snapping limbs, the witness saw a massive ape-like animal running away while grunting. The animal disappeared into the swamp, leaving a strong musk smell. The witness left, unsure what had been seen.

The witness and a relative were wading in a river fishing near dusk when a very loud, prolonged guttural sound filled the valley from woods ahead. The guest and his wife were pet-sitting near Asheville and watched a blood-moon lunar eclipse from the back deck. After going inside around midnight they heard a prolonged scream-howl from the brushy forest at the front of the house. The guest felt watched and intensely anxious until about 4:30 a.m. and did not sleep, while his wife fell asleep.

The witness parked by a gated abandoned road and walked about a mile, then left the road to inspect tire marks. He found teepee-like stick structures, snapped saplings he could not break, and downed trees funneling movement into a wash. Birds went silent, loud tongue-clicking surrounded him with an answering whistle, and objects sounding like rocks were thrown as he left. From a field with a large quartz rock he saw a dark shape in a distant tree.

While driving at night from Florida, the driver glimpsed a blood-covered man in old uniform standing in a ditch and called 911 to report an injured person. During the call something heavy hit the truck bed, a pale face appeared at the rear window, and pounding and scratching hit the cab roof. The driver accelerated then braked hard, throwing a tall scrawny long-limbed figure over the hood into the road, which stood and ran to the woods. Officers later saw scratch marks on the cab roof.

The witness and their son watched the sunset at an overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway and then got into their car to leave as fog rolled in. As they started to back up, a very dark, man-like figure ran across the road into the woods. The witness described it as too large for a black bear and not an elk, said it disappeared from view, and said they were left intensely frightened.

The witness was riding in a car north of Mt. Gilead around noon when an entity appeared about 200 feet ahead. It crossed the highway in two bounds within five to six seconds and headed toward railroad tracks, disappearing before the car reached the spot. The driver did not see it because he was looking in the side mirror at a car behind.

A couple driving home along a river road passed a strange figure on the roadside, then saw it standing and watching them as they drove away. They turned around and drove back to the same stretch of road, stopping about 100 yards away to watch the large black-haired figure standing at the road edge. The husband briefly got out of the vehicle for a better look before they left the area.

The witness was deer hunting from a stand on wooded acreage in daylight when a tree was seen shaking violently. Looking through a scope, the witness saw a large black-haired creature with a cone-shaped head standing back in the woods swaying side to side for several seconds and noticed a wet-dog-like smell. The witness also reported a teepee-like stick structure and pictures of footprints.

The witness and a companion were looking at wildflowers at a pull-off near a trailhead road. They heard three loud distinctive knocks from across the road with no people or wind present. They also noted rocks on the roadway with no visible source.

Returning late at night to find the front door open, the witness stepped onto the deck and saw a huge hairy figure emerge and growl. The witness fled inside and later moved away within weeks.

The witness and his wife were hiking to Crabtree Falls in July 2016 when they left the main trail to follow a creek uphill through boulders. Near the top of a 25-30 foot cascade the witness saw a tall lanky hairy figure crouched above the water with its arm in the falls. After his wife screamed the creature stood, grunted, stared briefly, then crossed the creek in one step and climbed out of sight, after which the couple left and avoided hiking for months.
Large trees shaking 15 miles SW of Asheville
The witness was working on an irrigation system in a wooded community adjoining national forest when he heard a loud crash and saw a large tree rocking with no visible cause. After waiting and approaching the tree line, the same crash-and-rocking sequence occurred with a second tree and then a third. Feeling watched and frightened, he left the property and rescheduled the work.
UFO sighting in North Carolina (2016)
The guest drove at night on the highway toward the airport when the radio cut out and two dancing lights appeared ahead. One light descended close, revealing a silent rectangular craft with a container-like underside that crossed the highway over the treeline. Both he and the driver ahead slowed and exchanged light flashes afterward.

While driving south on I-95 near the South Carolina border around midnight, the witness noticed the taillights of a tractor-trailer ahead briefly go dark as if something crossed behind it. The witness slowed, straddled the center line, and turned on high beams. As the witness passed the spot, a large hairy bipedal creature was standing by the median about 10-15 feet away and took two long steps down the embankment into the median during an encounter lasting about 10 seconds.

The witness spent the night in a hammock set a short distance into the woods beside a campground site while his wife slept in a tent. After 2:30 a.m. he heard prolonged branch-breaking sounds around him and a very deep, prolonged vocalization, which seemed to stop when he shone a light and resume when it was off. He retreated to the tent, where both occupants continued to hear breaking culminating in one very loud break. The next morning they found no footprints or broken limbs, only rock piles they noted.
Morning hiker hears possible knocks and strange vocals in the Uwharrie National Forest
The witness was hiking alone on a forest trail in the morning when he heard pairs of loud wood knocks that seemed to answer each other as he moved. After returning toward the trailhead he heard a loud deep huff from a ditch without seeing any animal or movement. He then heard repeated guttural baby-like moans or cries from brush across the ditch that changed direction but showed no movement, prompting him to leave without entering the brush.
