Country boys have frightening nightime encounter 50 miles south of Louisville
The witness and two companions stopped on a rural back road at night and heard a distant knock, then sounds of wood breaking after the witness whistled. After driving on to turn around and stopping again, the witness shone a light into the woods and saw a tall dark hairy figure with eyeshine watching them. The encounter lasted only a few seconds before the group drove away in fear.

Five campers staying at Spectacle Lake reported hearing tree knocks on two consecutive nights after 10 pm, first from across the lake where they believed no other people were present and then from very close to their cottage. A group of about ten young campers spent Memorial weekend at a secluded forest clearing. After earlier strange sounds and a brief sighting, one camper encountered a tall bipedal figure near the camp bathroom area and alerted the group. Several campers armed themselves, moved children into a vehicle, fired warning shots, and pursued the figure toward a nearby friends camp where they reported being circled by three tall dark-furred bipeds. The following mornings the group reported handprints on vehicles, footprints, nests, and broken-tree crosses and teepee structures around both camps.

A couple hiking in a wetland preserve heard several loud wood knocks after crossing a boardwalk bridge. Later on the trail they found several large barefoot human-like tracks pressed deeply into mud, which the reporter photographed. No creature was seen and no other unusual events occurred at the time.

The witness hiked the Big Cypress boardwalk trail around noon and stepped off the pavement toward a clearing. Shortly after leaving the path they heard a short deep humming or groaning sound to one side and something falling through leaves behind them, then retreated to the path. After starting back toward the clearing they heard a single crisp wood-on-wood knock and then ran to their car.

While deer hunting near Hyatt Lake, the witness heard a large object crash through the woods moving away. Shortly after stopping, the witness heard tree knocks from the same direction, then heard additional knocks behind while walking back to a truck on the main road. Despite aiming a rifle scope toward the sounds from under 100 yards away, the witness saw nothing and was frightened.

While walking alone in the afternoon the witness noticed a brief skunk-like odor and then heard repetitive knocking from the woods. The witness tapped a stick on trees in patterns and heard knocks returned in the same numbers, first from one direction and later from two directions. After a much louder wood-on-wood smashing sounded nearby and the other knocks stopped, the witness left the forest quickly without seeing the source.

The witness was hiking with a relative and a dog when they turned back on the trail. They heard three separate sets of three rhythmic knocks that sounded progressively farther away, noticed the woods had gone quiet and the dog remained alert, and felt watched until reaching the main trail. There was no visual sighting.

The witness was alone at an abandoned campground at night to photograph fireflies. They heard two loud single wood knocks about 45 minutes apart coming from the woods ahead/southwest, with no other animal sounds, footsteps, or odor. Unable to explain the sound, the witness packed up and left.

The witness was walking back toward his vehicle along the creek after using predator calls when he heard a loud wood knock and heard footsteps paralleling him. He glimpsed a large upright figure slipping behind a tree, then caught its face and upper body in his spotlight from about 40 yards for about two seconds before it pulled back behind the tree. He retreated through brush, crossed the creek, and hurried back to his vehicle while on the phone with a friend.

Two soldiers on a nighttime security patrol left the patrol base and noticed unnerving silence, cold air, a strong rotten odor, and sounds paralleling them and following behind. They heard a knocking sound and a whistle that mimicked their own signal, then encountered a large shaggy shape blocking the trail that rose from a crouch and walked away upright. They were found by an instructor about a mile from the base perimeter and later told by leadership not to discuss the incident.

While hiking out he heard a deep scream-howl, panicked and ran to his truck and avoided the woods for the rest of deer season.

Claimed activity includes rocks hitting the roof, female-like screams and other loud vocalizations, knocking sounds, trees breaking, and something striking the house. A small hardwood tree near a deer stand was found snapped in half, and activity reportedly increased after deer feeders and hunting stands were placed.

The witness was hunting hogs alone on a food plot in the afternoon. He heard two loud wood-on-wood knocks from a mountainside about a quarter mile away, followed about thirty seconds later by a fainter knock from the opposite ridge. He reported no other vehicles in the area and noted there were no roads or trails where the first knocks originated.

The witness hiked Hex Mountain in the late morning and heard repeated distinct knocking from the east side near the top.
