In 2000 two campers with dogs at a primitive site felt something grab and shake their tent after they pushed back and shouted. They fled to town and called authorities, leaving gear and dogs. Wardens later found the tent destroyed, gear scattered, one dog cowering and soiled, and the other dog missing.

A press report said three large footprint-like impressions were found on a Monday in the wooded Blue Hills area near Rice Lake. On August 1, 1990, a woman at a mobile home near Eldon, Oklahoma reported hearing noises and smelling a bad odor before seeing a very tall, heavy creature. A deputy later found large impressions at the scene. Two days later, two other residents reported a similar upright animal at a trash pile nearby.

Large tracks found investigated by Federal authorities
A contractor doing roadwork found about half a dozen large footlike prints near a bulldozer in a remote part of the Ocala National Forest. Law enforcement and forestry personnel made casts of the prints, described as 17 inches long with an arch, five toes and a four-foot stride. On subsequent nights they saw a seven-foot hairy creature near the road and under the yard light. They fired on it as it entered the coop and came toward them, then sent children away. Police blamed a bear, raccoon or wild dog.
