About an hour later they returned and found a tall tree freshly snapped about eight feet up with dripping sap and a hair on a branch.

On June 5th 2004 the witness was leading a group at a large archaeological site when the witness struck a large branch against a dry pine to try calling a response. No response was heard at the time. About four hundred yards along the exit trail the group found a dead grouse placed in the middle of the trail with wings tucked, still slightly warm, interpreted as a fresh placement similar to an earlier find.

They moved the car several times to different roads, but the knocking resumed shortly after each stop and continued until sunrise. After sunrise they noticed a bark wound high on a tree near the car.

Feeling watched and unnerved, the witness left the area, and on the trail out noticed fresh broken branches on a pine tree.

Three hunters camped in a river bottom over the opening weekend of bow season. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.
