The witness woke to barking dogs in the morning and went outside to calm them. From woods across the road and a vacant lot, the witness heard loud deep growling, howls, and repeated knocking sounds like a bat hitting a tree. The sounds included quieter growling afterward and then stopped, and the witness went back inside where nothing further was heard.
Homeowner hears possible howls east of Winter Springs
Early on June 30, 2008, the witness was carrying trash to the curb in the dark when a loud, long ascending whoop ending in a booming oop was heard from a treeline across the street near a lake. The sound seemed aimed at the witness, carried very far, and did not match any known animal, causing fear and retreat to the garage. An owl called shortly afterward from the same area but sounded distinctly different.

The witness was walking dogs outside the home before dawn when she noticed a very large hair-covered biped in the street. The creature repeatedly moved quickly closer when she looked away and froze when she looked back, approaching from about 200 feet to near the house. The witness and a companion were walking home from a park through forest when they saw a tall hair-covered figure about 40 yards away. The figure was in a half-squat, then backed up and stood fully upright, at an estimated height of at least seven feet. Both witnesses fled the scene immediately.

Two companions hiking in Apalachicola National Forest stopped at a shallow brook to cool off. After leaving the water they heard rocks colliding and sticks breaking and went to investigate. They glimpsed an ape-like biped charging away through thick brush, breaking limbs and leaving a foul odor. Afterwards they noted disturbed rocks and a partial heel print that later dried out and was not photographed.

The witness was driving on an unpaved forest road after leaving a hunting camp around noon. An upright, dark-brown, hair-covered figure stepped onto the road about 150 yards ahead, paused and looked toward the vehicle, then turned and walked back into dense timber. The encounter lasted a few seconds, and the witness did not exit the vehicle to follow.

The witness was hiking with a companion when they found two sets of unusual tracks about a mile apart. One set showed an abducted ape-like toe, while the other showed unusually splayed toe prints unlike a human print. Photos of the tracks were later shared with an investigator for review.

A short time later a second, lower-pitched and more distant vocalization was heard, which the witness felt came from a second source.

After the eyes disappeared, they heard a very loud, deep growl from directly behind them. They fled to their truck, honked and lit the area, then quickly recovered their gear and left.

The witness walked to and waited at a bus stop around 6:15 when loud howling, screams and growls were heard repeatedly over several minutes from a large wooded area about 100 meters away. Neighborhood dogs reacted strongly and some ran into the woods where rustling was heard. The witness was frightened by the sounds and then boarded the bus.

The witness was camping with two friends and walked alone to sit by a creek circling the camp. Across the creek he heard movement, then turned on a flashlight and saw a large hairy creature that fled into brush, shaking trees. After retreating about 30 yards it emitted a loud growling snarl, and the witness ran back to camp in panic.

They approached the sound and saw a tall muscular figure that looked at them briefly before running away. The witness and his daughter were sleeping in a tent at a small campground when they were awakened around 3 a.m. by loud, powerful howl-like calls coming from a nearby swampy area.
