Two people hiking in the woods heard several wood-on-wood knocks spaced seconds apart. A minute or two later they heard a loud, long drawn-out cry lasting several seconds from within a mile. They stopped and listened briefly, then left the area.

Group members examined and photographed a stick formation found by the witness off the beaten path and agreed it was carefully assembled by something with hands.

An investigator visited the incident site hours later with both witnesses with audio recording running and heard an unusual sound after a barred owl call.
