Two companions hiking in Apalachicola National Forest stopped at a shallow brook to cool off. After leaving the water they heard rocks colliding and sticks breaking and went to investigate. They glimpsed an ape-like biped charging away through thick brush, breaking limbs and leaving a foul odor. Afterwards they noted disturbed rocks and a partial heel print that later dried out and was not photographed.

Partial mushy heel print, described as upper left side of a left foot in mud at brook edge, big and twice width of witnesses' heels; witnesses tried to preserve it but mud dried and cracked and they had no camera.
Measurements: 'twice the width' of their heels
Thick limbs and small trees broken in the creature's path through brush.
Rocks on bank and in water moved and jumbled in a distinct way.
An investigator spoke to both witnesses by phone to collect additional details.
