The being stared, rocked side to side, and repeatedly leaned to pull bark from a large pine tree. Afterward the witness fetched security and later returned in daylight to find fresh bark, deep ground indentations, and possible scat.

The parents had glimpsed a similar figure in nearly the same spot the previous night. The next day the family found slide marks and a broken branch near the creek and learned another family had also seen the creature.

The companions recorded eyeshine in the opposite direction, suggesting a second animal, and the group heard footsteps following them as they descended. They later reviewed the tape and confirmed eyeshine had been recorded.

He smelled a terrible odor and was paced by something unseen that stopped when he stopped, then heard screaming, breaking limbs, and saw a large log thrown and trees violently shaking. He fled in the canoe to the center of the river.
