Rock banging, footprints and strange stripped tree on high mountain ranch near Sandpoint

The witness was working alone with a guard dog in a forest clearing being cleared for a runway when, after shutting down machinery, two series of very loud rock-banging sounds came from the shadowed tree line. The dog stayed alert but would not approach, and the witness felt watched and left without seeing the source. Weeks later he found very large deep footprints pointing toward the sound location.

Two large footprints in soft soil, 23 and 21 inches long and 2-3 inches deep with horizontal toe scrape marks and debris in depressions, pointing toward the timber.
Measurements: 23 inches and 21 inches long; 2-3 inches deep; witness boot 3/4 inch
Large pine with bark stripped from ground to 8-10 feet high, chisel-like marks about 1 inch long and 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide, no claw or tooth marks.

Two possible large left footprints described as very fresh due to new runway work.
The witness placed a motion-sensitive game camera on a trail in the timber for just over a week, which captured only wind movement and no animals.
