On a cool afternoon in February 2007, the witness and a companion hiked in the woods to look for clues about strange activity. They reported finding large human-like footprints, possible bedding areas, territorial tree markings, and a freshly fallen oak with bark that looked chewed and wet. While leaving the woods they reported being followed by something unseen that produced howls and other vocals, stick-beating sounds, continuing footsteps, and moving vegetation.

The witness and a companion were hunting raccoons at night with a hound that first treed a raccoon then pursued another animal through forest. After the dog returned frightened and stayed close, the pair tried to walk out in darkness with failing lights. For an hour or two they heard something large circling them with heavy footfalls and crashing vegetation and small trees breaking nearby, but they never saw the source.

While walking back to the truck through knee-deep snow he heard twigs snapping and footsteps running through thick woods alongside him. After glimpsing brown fur duck behind a log, the witness heard an extremely loud low roar-like yell from behind with crashing, then heard crashing and throwing sounds staying out of sight while leaving for about 200 yards. No full animal was clearly seen.

Something charged toward them from a wooded hill, crashing through vegetation while emitting a terrifying howl/growl, and the witness glimpsed a black figure. Both girls fled back to their group in tears and left the area immediately.

The witness found a large human-like footprint on a muddy curve and returned with a camera and casting supplies to document it. While making the cast, nearby bushes rustled violently and the top of a small tree snapped off and fell near the road, followed by several whinny-like vocalizations from the woods. Days later the witness believed an outline of a figure appeared in one photo and reported being followed on later visits to check for more prints.

The witness and his wife sat on his truck tailgate at a power-line clearing late at night when they heard snorting, brush breaking, and a loud growl/grunt moving up a steep hill toward them. The witness saw a large shadow moving on the slope in moonlight, heard breathing and stomping, and smelled a musky sour odor. After revving the truck engine the sounds crashed rapidly downhill, and the pair left, seeing deer run across the road as they drove out.

The witness and three companions camped over multiple rainy nights. They heard persistent huffing and a growl, experienced silence and a sense of being watched, and reported a dark shape blocking a camper window. When leaving they later found muddy primate-like handprints high on the camper and a trailer lock twisted and broken.

Investigators found fresh broken trees, dozens of footprints and two nests where a trail crossed a road and staked out the spot. No creature was seen, but something large moving on two feet approached the stakeout before fleeing downhill through brush when a car passed. The witness and a young relative were walking by a lake at night while camping when they heard a commotion. They watched two very large black upright figures and then a third taller one stripping branches and bark from trees for about 15 minutes from about 125 feet away before running back to their camper. The next day the witness returned to find stripped trees and limbs piled at their bases.
