Couple hears bipedal walking while hiking near Prineville

The witness was hiking with two family members and had stopped to rest on a log when repeated rhythmic thumping was heard from about two hundred feet away. The sound recurred after a short interval and then again from a different direction after the witness walked toward the area while filming. No source was seen and the witness stated it did not sound like machinery or running. The group left shortly after the sounds stopped.

The reporter and a companion were walking about two miles back to their vehicle after hunting when they noticed a foul burnt-garbage odor and rustling in roadside bushes without seeing anything. Shortly after, from behind them near a creek crossing, they heard four very loud two-toned calls that echoed and seemed to come from a very large animal. Unable to identify the sound as elk, deer, bear, cougar or bird, they suspected a sasquatch, became frightened, and hurried out of the woods.

The witness and a companion hiked out toward their vehicle after hunting as darkness fell. During the walk they noticed an out-of-place foul odor and later heard rustling beside the road without seeing the source. Shortly after, they heard a very loud two-toned whoo-hoo call repeated four times from behind them near a creek crossing, which the witness felt must come from a very large animal unlike known wildlife. Frightened, they left the woods quickly and later felt online recordings matched what they heard.

Late at night the witness lay in bed and heard repeated moaning-howl sounds from outside through a partly open window. After looking from a lit front window without seeing anything, the witness went to a parent's back bedroom where the sound was still clearly audible. When blinds were raised and a window was opened noisily the sound stopped and was not heard again.

While scouting alone for deer in late afternoon, the witness heard a loud deep growl from a nearby thicket and later heard heavy movement paralleling his path through brush. He found two live trees bent over a logging road, then heard repeated knocking sounds from the direction of his entry route. While leaving through a creek bottom at dusk, he heard rocks striking and rolling downstream several times before driving out without seeing the source.

They drove past, confirmed they had all seen something, and turned back; two of them saw it again peeking from behind the elevated tee box before it moved out of sight. They left, returned minutes later in an enclosed cart, and heard repeated creaking sounds nearby before leaving the area.

Two witnesses riding ATVs stopped at a ravine and heard unknown calls answering each other, a deeper call from below and a higher-pitched reply from the other side. After several minutes the deeper call seemed to have moved behind them to their right, with only underbrush noises and no sign the source was disturbed. The account was relayed by a relative who interpreted it as a Bigfoot encounter, while the witnesses said they had never heard the sound before.

Two companions arrived early for deer hunting and sat waiting in a parked truck with the windows down before dawn. They heard repeated sets of seven very loud heavy knocks, with knocks near the truck answered from several hundred yards away after a few seconds, continuing for about eight minutes. A passing truck stopped, shone a spotlight toward the sound area, then left quickly, after which the knocking stopped.

During a daytime hike up a drainage on 10 Sept, the witness stopped at an old hunting camp and heard two clear wood knocks about 150-200 yards away. After confirming by radio that no other participants were nearby or knocking, the witness knocked back and received an immediate two-knock reply from slightly farther away. Further knocks and whoops over about 30 minutes drew no additional replies, and no movement or odor was noticed. The witness then returned to camp and later revisited the area by ATV with others.

The witness and a companion were sleeping at a campsite at night when loud screaming that shifted into howling woke them. The sound repeated several times from a short distance away and was unfamiliar to both, leaving them frightened while their dog stayed silent with raised hair. A young relative sleeping with them did not wake during the sounds. The group waited until daylight and then quickly broke camp and left.
