Account
During a daytime hike up a drainage on 10 Sept, the witness stopped at an old hunting camp and heard two clear wood knocks about 150-200 yards away. After confirming by radio that no other participants were nearby or knocking, the witness knocked back and received an immediate two-knock reply from slightly farther away. Further knocks and whoops over about 30 minutes drew no additional replies, and no movement or odor was noticed. The witness then returned to camp and later revisited the area by ATV with others.

On 10 Sept, a group working down from above timberline found and photographed a couple sets of tracks and noticed a distinct smell left of the knock location.

On the evening of 8 Sept, participants spread along a drainage and conducted coordinated wood knocks and calls until about 2 AM with no replies.
On the night of 9 Sept, participants stationed at intervals in a canyon near the new base camp conducted timed calls and knocks with no replies.
On 10 Sept, a group working down from above timberline found and photographed a couple sets of tracks and noticed a distinct smell left of the knock location.
After the knock exchange, the witness and others rode ATVs back to the location, where a companion rode further up the left fork and noticed a musty smell.
