The witness was staying five nights in a lakeside cabin in February with heavy snow. On three consecutive nights around 10 p.m., after stepping outside for a cigarette, the witness heard a very loud knock in the woods, often followed shortly by more distant knocks. Nothing was seen and the witness remained uncertain what caused the sounds.

The witness and a companion hiked several miles into the La Sal Mountains to camp and hunt deer. During daytime glassing a large aspen snapped and fell near them on a calm day. That night around 2 a.m. a loud multi-pitched scream sounded from a hillside for about two hours while something circled their tent close enough to hear breathing. The witness parked by a gated abandoned road and walked about a mile, then left the road to inspect tire marks. He found teepee-like stick structures, snapped saplings he could not break, and downed trees funneling movement into a wash. Birds went silent, loud tongue-clicking surrounded him with an answering whistle, and objects sounding like rocks were thrown as he left. From a field with a large quartz rock he saw a dark shape in a distant tree.

Two nights before leaving, the cat stared through the covered kitchen window where the creatures often approached. A loud big-voiced excited ooh like a human female, felt as vibration, sounded close by. Fearing the cat would be grabbed, the witness called it back to the barricaded room.

While lying silent, the witness heard very loud heavy footsteps stopping beside the bedroom window followed by deep huffing and grunting with massive air intake. The presence moved behind the trailer and shook a protective window panel as if trying to open it. At daylight the witness fled with cat and rifle without looking up, while the landlord revved a motorcycle and checked behind the trailer.

During a dark hard rain the witness heard a loud hammer-like knocking from the sitting rock behind the trailer that accelerated into rapid rock-on-rock impacts continuing about 45 minutes. The witness concluded no human could sustain that speed and duration. A strange metallic gate-like sound and distant talking and whistles had also become a recurring precursor.

After hearing a prolonged scream like a woman dying in the distance, the witness checked the outward-facing camera and saw a large figure on the garage roof reaching down with an arm. When infrared light hit it, the figure quickly lifted its arm and head to stare at the camera, showing a broad mouth, lips, nose and eyes. The witness stopped watching and felt shaken.

The witness woke in the middle of the night to a loud bang against the trailer and later heard slow rhythmic footsteps and additional bangs until sunrise. Camera clips recorded the impact sounds. The next day the witness found fresh damage, a large muddy handprint on the awning arm, and a deep heel print that split the doormat.

The witness and a relative were hunting deer late in the afternoon when they heard sounds like wood blocks struck together. Moments later they saw a dark fur-covered figure moving upright very quickly through thick brush, visible only from the upper thigh up for a few seconds. The witness was sitting in a deer stand above a creek in heavily wooded bottomland waiting for deer. After smelling a musky odor and hearing leaves rustling behind the stand, the witness turned and saw a large dark-brown hairy biped across the creek about 60 yards away walking parallel to the water. The creature briefly turned its head toward the witness, continued swiftly with its arms swinging, and stayed in view for 10 to 15 seconds before moving away through trees.

The witness and a companion were playing cribbage on their truck tailgate on a mountain ridge in the afternoon when they heard loud knocks from different directions. After the second knock they walked toward the sound and the witness produced a howl and a knock, which was quickly answered by another knock. They then heard an additional knock from the opposite side of the truck and left the area after hearing nothing more.

The witness was camping overnight with two companions. After the group made a howl and a growl, they heard chatter from across the parking lot followed seconds later by a wood knock from farther away in the same direction. The witness answered with two wood knocks using a stick but got no response.

The witness was hiking alone in a large state forest to decompress after midterms and to catch sunset views. On a side trail the witness encountered a human-sized hairy figure eating leaves, then a taller female figure that gestured to the smaller one to stay calm and made a strange vocalization toward the trail behind. While leaving near the parking lot the witness saw an even taller male figure behind a rock staring, then left quickly and remained distressed afterward.
