Around midnight in early fall, the witness was in bed watching TV at home when he heard loud howls through closed windows, followed by ape-like grunts. His horse became very nervous and distant dogs were barking. He woke his wife after the sounds stopped and they later compared the sounds to Bigfoot recordings online and found them very similar.
Hunter hears sounds at night and smells during day near campsite
The reporter was sleeping in a tent at a deer-hunting camp when they were awakened around 2am by the sound of wood snapping, followed by a loud knock like wood striking wood and something hitting the tent. They stayed in the tent with a rifle and heard nothing further. In the morning they found a broken pine cone on the tarp at the impact spot, with no overhanging trees or wind to explain it and no similar debris elsewhere in camp.

The witness was backpacking with a relative and a group at an alpine lake and went to explore the shore alone in the evening. She found many barefoot prints of different sizes that were unusually deep in mud and showed what she interpreted as a mid-tarsal break. She tested the mud firmness against her own weight, followed the prints from the water into gravel and rocks, and concluded they were not human.

The witness and a companion were camping in tents in a largely deserted mountain campground. On two consecutive nights after 11 p.m. the witness heard strange sounds near his tent, including chatter, stone-like banging, cough-like and shushing noises, and a deep guttural grunt from about thirty feet away. On the second night small debris struck the side of his tent as if thrown. The companion confirmed hearing weird noises on the first night.

The witness and a companion went to check on the witness's dog late at night after it behaved unusually. They shone lights uphill and saw a tall, thick figure that stepped back into darkness and vanished. The pair were frightened and fled.

Two witnesses were on the back deck of a vacation cabin at night with a small leashed dog when they heard a loud grunting/growling sound from bushes about 60 feet away. The dog was alert and barking at the bushes. Frightened, both people went back inside the house.

The brothers paddled to a campsite and fished up a braided stream to a beaver dam. After hooking a bass, two nearby trees began shaking violently while a loud roaring and growling continued without stopping. While standing in the backyard after an investigator left a non-recording thermal device, the witnesses heard a metallic banging behind them and retreated to the porch. The witness returned with a flashlight and pistol and shone light into its eyes briefly before running back. His wife then viewed it swaying through thermal behind BlackBerry bushes and photographed the thermal screen with a cell phone.

About a hundred yards away they saw what looked like another hunter in dark clothing walk behind a tree. They worked over but found no hunter or sign. [name withheld] says it is the first thing he could not identify.

The witness and a companion were camped when rocks were thrown into camp and something circled them while hitting trees with a stick. The witness walked toward the sounds and fired a pistol shot into the ground, after which the activity stopped. About ten minutes later as they finished packing to leave, the activity resumed.

Two hunters working a wide river bottom saw what looked like another hunter in dark clothing about a hundred yards away. It stepped behind a tree and never reappeared, with no one found when they walked over. The experienced woodsman said he could not identify it.

The witness and a friend went to fish in western Palm Beach County and walked a built-up trail through swamp while hunters on a swamp buggy fired nearby. A large gray-haired biped leapt across the 20-foot trail in front of the witness, landed quietly, peered from behind a palm frond, then vanished. The pair found a 16 to 17-inch track in a ditch and another in an ant pile but did not see it again.

The witness was driving over a mountain pass in the afternoon when a large man-like figure crossed the highway in three steps and entered a swampy area. The witness stopped and searched for tracks but found none. An investigator later spoke with the witness by phone and recorded additional size and appearance details.

The witness and a companion were sleeping in a tent at a forested campground near a river. At dawn they were awakened by three very loud, very low-pitched, human-sounding grunts from just outside the tent, described as close enough to vibrate the witness's diaphragm and originating above tent height. Cooking gear and plates with food residue left out on the picnic table were undisturbed.

The witness was stargazing with friends in a foggy open field at night when she noticed a dark, shadowy figure standing in tall grass some distance away observing the group. She tried to alert companions who did not see it, then left for the campfire out of fear. Later the group heard coyotes howling for several minutes before they stopped abruptly, and nothing further happened that night.
Campers awakened by possible late-night screams north of Woods Canyon Lake
A couple camping on the Mogollon Rim reported being awakened in the early morning by very loud, long screams echoing in a nearby canyon. Both spouses listened for several minutes before briefly leaving the tent and returning to sleep. The next morning the husband walked toward the sound and reported finding a large teepee-like structure of heavy cut poles with no stumps nearby. On the second night no screams were heard, but the wife reported hearing large movement in the woods while the dogs remained uneasy.
Possible vocalizations heard from the Bear Heaven Campground east of Elkins
The witness spent the night alone in the cab of his truck at Bear Heaven campground without a tent or fire. Around 3 a.m. a loud double whoop was heard from very close range, followed after a pause by a second similar call. A fainter similar call was heard answering from a distance. The source was not seen.
Woman is startled to see a large hairy biped climbing her fence outside Clearwater
Around 1:55 a.m. the witness stepped outside to smoke and heard the chain-link fence rattle and brush breaking. Under a nearby security light she saw a large hairy creature straddling the fence; it turned, made eye contact, then swung its leg back over and dropped into the woods. She woke her daughter and both heard movement and smelled a foul odor, later finding the fence top bent and branches broken.
