Two people were camped for the night after hiking when they heard wood knocks exchanged back and forth from different directions for about four minutes. One of them shouted to scare off a possible animal, after which the knocking stopped. They reported no visual contact, walking sounds, or odor.
Possible evening interaction by a river west of Mazama
The witness and a relative crossed the river at night to search for Bigfoot, using tree knocks and vocal calls. After initial knocks got no response, the witness made a call imitating a young Sasquatch and heard a loud impact about 7-10 seconds later described as a heavy rock hitting a tree. They tried additional calls with no further response and left around 10 p.m.
Campers hear possible night-time responses near Aeneas Valley Road
The witness was camping with a group on a friend's undeveloped property and spent two nights riding ATVs to a remote spot to try imitation yells and tree knocks for fun. The group reported hearing responding knocks, high-pitched vocalizations, loud grunt-like growls from in front and behind, and a very loud tree-breaking sound, all from about 75 to 300 yards away. Nothing was ever seen, and the group left the hillside quickly after the close growls, later listening from camp.

The witness and a companion stopped off a forest road so the witness could target shoot while the companion waited at the truck. After the witness returned to the road, both heard repeated very loud cracking snaps from a wooded hilltop about 100 yards away, spaced about 30 seconds apart, along with movement and bark-ripping sounds. The witness walked partway up the hill filming with a cell phone and captured at least one loud crack before returning to the truck and leaving.
Possible knocks and vocalization heard from inside a home near Buckley
The witness was awake in bed with the window open around sunrise when two wood knocks sounding very close were followed immediately by a distant deep vocalization. The witness felt the sound was too deep and guttural to be a human, elk, coyote, or other familiar animal. The witness then got up, closed and locked the window, and heard no further noises.

The witness hiked down a service road into a ravine and heard two loud wood-on-wood impacts from uphill. After returning to the vehicle for a camera battery, the witness found a line of large tracks crossing a dirt berm that had not been there earlier. The witness photographed the tracks and made a cast of the clearest impression, also noting an odd odor and a crashing sound in the area.
Mushroom picking couple scared out of a forest near Wilkeson
A couple were picking mushrooms in dense old-growth forest in the afternoon when they heard crunching and repeated loud thumping likened to wood knocks from about 100 yards away. A few minutes later a loud snap like a small tree or large branch breaking occurred about 20 feet behind them. Frightened, they abandoned their mushrooms and left the area without seeing the source.

The witness and her adult son were camped overnight in tents at a lakeside site. At dusk the witness gave a loud whoop and heard a return whoop from across the lake, followed by elk bugling and a loud knock from behind camp. After going to bed, the witness felt something heavy step on the tent edge and push on her head through the fabric, then heard soft bipedal steps around camp until dawn when another knock was heard.

Two men sat in complete darkness in a forest hotspot talking and playing harmonicas to invite contact while two companions monitored from about 100 yards with a thermal imager. After hearing a stick break and soft knocks, they reported seeing a small red-orange light near the ground that illuminated ferns and silhouetted what looked like a large finger with knuckles moving toward them before fading. They remained on site afterward playing music and talking.

Four people on a dirt-bike trip stopped at a dirt-road intersection and heard knocking like someone hitting a tree. After finding no people or vehicles nearby, one witness knocked on a tree and two or three loud knocks answered within seconds. The group left immediately, and a search the next day found no trails or camps to explain the sounds.

The witness was driving an off-road vehicle up a snowy forest road in the afternoon when a large hairy biped crossed the road and went up the bank into the forest. The witness stopped and watched it disappear and saw nothing else for the rest of the trip. Later, while parked at the ridge top, the witness heard wood knocks estimated to be about a mile away.

The guest recalls feeling extremely threatened in daylight down by the creek in 2014. After a bird reacted, knocking sounded all around and grew frantic, producing intense dread. She ran from the tree line into the field and the sounds stopped at once.

After about five minutes the same loud sound recurred. Six people hiked up a forest road at night to revisit the witness's prior sighting area. After making knocks and whoop calls, they reported hearing a return knock, whoops, a guttural grumble and a moan, and seeing multiple eye-shines. Later in a quarry area they reported watching a human-like figure in night-vision goggles that crouched when noticed, followed by a rock thrown nearby, after which they left.

Two people exploring logging roads by jeep stopped to scout a side road on foot. They heard knocking sounds like a stick hitting a tree, then a very loud prolonged cracking like a thick log breaking nearby. They left without seeing any people or vehicles that could explain the noises. A photo taken toward the sounds was later thought to contain something odd but was deemed inconclusive.
Tracks near Skamania County (2013)
In April 2013 the guest took his teenage son camping at a just-opened campground off Highway 14 along the Columbia River. During a daytime walk they found an old large track, opened clam shells out of place, a fresh vine-maple twist tucked behind a fir, an 18-inch footprint beneath it, and several pushed or tossed trees. That night in camp they heard branch-breaking, felt the tarps pulled, heard splashing, felt vibration waves, and heard two wood knocks before leaving exhausted in the morning.

They reported hearing howls, a whoop and slow knocks, then seeing at least eight pairs of eye shine positioned around the vehicle. In the early afternoon the witness and companions were walking down an old logging road when they heard strange whistling, gurgling pig-like sounds and trees shaking nearby. The witness approached to about 30 feet and saw the back of a light beige, clean-haired figure with darker face and hands holding trees, which then struck trees, turned away, and ran off on all fours while whistling continued from across the road. Companions farther away heard the whistles, thuds and thrashing but did not see the figure.

The witness and four companions were pausing in a hay field during a target-practice outing when the witness spotted a large dark figure rising from a blackberry patch. The figure walked across a trail, paused by a fir tree and looked toward the group, then continued into an adjacent field. The group went to the spot, found flattened brush and a bent-grass trail, estimated the figure's height against the tree, took photos, and then heard knocking beats and hooting sounds after birds flushed and dogs barked in the distance.
