The witness was hiking a mountain trail with three children who had run ahead. He noticed a large upright hairy figure moving behind the treeline about 50 to 100 yards away, watching it for less than a minute as it moved through brush and woods. He did not alert the children at the time and did not photograph it. About a year later after seeing a television program about similar sightings in the area, he decided to share the experience.

An investigator hiked with two companions to the top of a rocky ridge at night to look into recurring activity. While the companions scanned with night vision and a camcorder, the investigator illuminated a sasquatch-like figure standing close below the rocks with a headlamp and watched it withdraw and walk away. The companions recorded eyeshine in the opposite direction, suggesting a second animal, and the group heard footsteps following them as they descended. They later reviewed the tape and confirmed eyeshine had been recorded.

In June 2008 the witness was camping and stepped into the woods behind the campsite in the early evening. After hearing a loud crash, the witness saw a dark muscular human-like figure moving quickly through brush toward a ravine about 20-30 feet away. The two companions did not see the figure, and no tracks or other sign were found the next morning.

The witness was walking on a dirt road in the evening when a gray-brown figure was seen standing between bushes at a distance. The occupants of a pickup became lost on logging roads late at night and stopped after the reporter noticed huge glowing eyes ahead. The reporter stared at the eyes and then made out a large black bulky form with massive forearms that stayed motionless in the headlights. The form then moved rapidly up a brushy hillside as the group drove away frightened.

The witness and a companion stopped while hiking and watched a reddish primate-like figure peeking from behind trees and brush about 100 feet away. The figure watched them for several minutes, moved away, then reappeared to peek briefly several more times over about 15 minutes. During the encounter they also heard movement in ravines on either side.

Two companions hiking in Apalachicola National Forest stopped at a shallow brook to cool off. After leaving the water they heard rocks colliding and sticks breaking and went to investigate. They glimpsed an ape-like biped charging away through thick brush, breaking limbs and leaving a foul odor. Afterwards they noted disturbed rocks and a partial heel print that later dried out and was not photographed.

Two people driving in the predawn hours saw a large dark-gray figure crossing the road in their headlights. They reported seeing only from the mid-chest down, describing it as upright on thick muscular hind legs and stooped over. It left the roadway into woods behind a house, and the witnesses drove away without stopping. A later daytime check found nothing.

An infantry team leader using a thermal imager at night saw a very large heat signature on a distant spur. The signature stood as one being at least as tall as the surrounding trees and covered ground quickly with slow relaxed strides before disappearing. He later associated it with local traditions of orange-dyed hair and goats and with stories of giants.

The guest was driving to work one morning in 2008 when he saw a large hairy biped standing in a young pine thicket on the left side of the road. He observed it from the chest up for about four to five seconds from roughly 90 to 100 feet before the road curved. He described an about eight-foot-tall, dark-brown creature with a human-like face that did not move, in an area where he had spent much time hunting and riding but never noticed signs.

On Vancouver Island the witness and a companion walked out after hearing knocks and whoops and called for a third person to bring a recorder. They watched a light like a headlamp leave camp, travel down the wrong trail into a thorn thicket, sit, then pass through and disappear. The person they thought they were watching was still in camp.

While attending a spiritual retreat, the guest walked in the woods on a break and noticed a uniformly black fuzzy figure about 150 feet away near the main trail. The figure appeared to be spying on approaching attendees, stepping high over brush. It seemed to pass behind a large tree trunk and never reappeared.

Late at night in December 2007 the witness was in her living room when she noticed a pair of large red glowing eyes looking in over the top of the lowered blinds. The witness left without approaching closely and returned the next day, finding no sign but noticing an unusual odor.

The witness stayed alone in the last car of a line of four while a paranormal group walked up a hill at night. A gold-tan something stood by the rear window and twice patted or palmed the car door, causing the witness to sit in the dark. The witness was deer hunting in the New River Gorge when he noticed movement about 60 yards away. Looking through his rifle scope, he watched a large hand against a poplar tree and then a head with large eyes peering at him for about 20 seconds before it stepped back behind the tree. He did not shoot, heard no sounds of departure, and had to pass near the location to leave the woods.

From bed she saw a large dark hairy figure standing off the porch and looking in the window for an extended stare. Early one morning the witness was standing beside a house making a phone call for work when a tall, hair-covered figure stepped from behind a tree and looked toward the witness. Only the upper body was visible above very tall grass before it ran quickly across an open field into surrounding woods. The witness estimated its height from how much of its body showed above the grass.

The witness was hunting with companions in a pine forest with a ravine when the group split up. The witness caught a brief peripheral glimpse of something brown moving behind a tree to the right, then repeatedly heard loud wood-on-wood knocking from that direction that later stopped abruptly. While walking back toward the road the witness heard a single whoop-like call that the companions did not hear.

Brush began shaking violently and with flashlights they saw broad shoulders moving through vegetation, then noticed something running down a hill and a large fallen tree that had been moved from its prior position. As they left the valley they again heard movement and saw a crouched figure shimmying through thick brush before fleeing the area frightened.
