Man hunting deer finds unusual feces and hears animal
While hunting deer alone in the morning, the witness heard repeated sounds like logs or poles being thrown, then found a tree with bark removed, a large packed bed, a human-like track, and unfamiliar scat. After glimpsing brown fur duck behind a log, the witness heard an extremely loud low roar-like yell from behind with crashing, then heard crashing and throwing sounds staying out of sight while leaving for about 200 yards. No full animal was clearly seen.
Family Encounters Red Eyes and Unusual Smells
The witness group was camped in a Sierra County campground and walked to an outhouse at night with a small flashlight. The witness shone the light toward the outhouse area below the trail and saw two red eyes that appeared to crouch down, then quickly returned to camp. A foul odor noticed around the outhouse lessened when others checked shortly after, and the next morning the group found small uprooted trees and no odor, estimating the eyes had been 7 to 8 feet off the ground.

The witness found a large human-like footprint on a muddy curve and returned with a camera and casting supplies to document it. While making the cast, nearby bushes rustled violently and the top of a small tree snapped off and fell near the road, followed by several whinny-like vocalizations from the woods. Days later the witness believed an outline of a figure appeared in one photo and reported being followed on later visits to check for more prints.

A man walking in the woods to shoot his rifle reported smelling rot and then seeing a huge hunkered animal staring at him. After a few seconds of mutual staring, the man walked away and the animal bolted past him on two legs, breaking branches as it ran. The account was relayed secondhand by a friend who said the witness was frightened and stayed out of the woods for months.
Hunters have Intimidation Encounter in Southhampton Township
In December 2001 four hunters were leaving the woods along a logging road after dark when something in the adjacent swamp repeatedly screamed and charged toward them while breaking branches. The group was armed but could not see the source, felt the ground shake, and described the screams as extremely loud and frightening. After several bluff charges, the source moved deeper into the swamp and the hunters left the area.

While hunting in dense pines the witness repeatedly heard loud expulsions of air and branches breaking moving around him. After returning to the area with his father, deer were spooked by the same sound. The witness then saw a large black-haired figure sitting under a pine about 30 yards away and stared at it before it stood and bounded away making the same noise.
Bowhunter finds twisted trees, tracks, scat, & unusual sounds
The witness was bow-hunting in coastal second-growth forest on the morning of 9/1/01. He heard whooping and scream-like vocalizations followed by a large tree falling, plus heavy footsteps, and later found large ground impressions, broken limbs and tops, and animal hair high on a tree. An investigator later reviewed photos of broken and twisted trees and received frozen scat and hair samples for examination.

The witness and three companions camped over multiple rainy nights. They heard persistent huffing and a growl, experienced silence and a sense of being watched, and reported a dark shape blocking a camper window. When leaving they later found muddy primate-like handprints high on the camper and a trailer lock twisted and broken.

The witness went to the clearing and made loud calls, then heard a howl turn into a roar approaching for about 40 minutes. Two or three unseen individuals roared, knocked, broke a treetop, circled, bluff-charged the tree stand, and growled close behind him with strong physical effects and a perceived mental threat. He fled to his truck, found his dog hiding, got briefly stuck while turning around, heard pursuit downhill, and drove to a mill and bars seeking a witness.

A family of five driving between Grand Prairie and Tumbler Ridge stopped on Boot Lake Road and found large barefoot human-like footprints in snow in a roadside ditch. About eight prints were clear, with a ninth leading into brush where willows were bent and broken. They estimated the size and stride but did not follow or photograph them because the children were frightened.

Investigators found fresh broken trees, dozens of footprints and two nests where a trail crossed a road and staked out the spot. No creature was seen, but something large moving on two feet approached the stakeout before fleeing downhill through brush when a car passed. The sign was documented the next day with footprint and tree-break measurements and a body-length impression in one nest.

After casting, he heard cracking across the river and saw bushes moving and a large brown figure without clear details. Two trees snapped and fell uphill as the figure moved upslope into dense forest, and the frightened witness left the area quickly.

A woman took three children to play in a shallow river area in the evening. After hearing responsive whistling sounds and a tree being pushed down nearby, the group fled to their vehicle. The child who briefly lagged behind later described seeing a brown hair-covered creature walking toward him.

The witness and a companion were night fishing when they heard rustling, snapping and thumping approaching from the woods. Something ran across gravel behind them, slapped the side of their parked pickup three times, and shook branches while heavy footsteps were felt. After reaching the truck to leave, they heard a loud, close, high-pitched unearthly scream and drove away quickly.
Gold dredgers have afternoon encounter in Cherokee National Forest
Two men had finished dredging for gold and were talking when they noticed a large dark creature about 100 feet away partly behind a dead tree and tailings pile. The creature reached up and snapped off a tree limb, looked at them for 10 to 20 seconds while a strong smell was present, then turned and walked into the woods. They stayed in the area for two more weeks with no further sightings but reported smelling it several times.

On a warm summer evening at dusk in 2000, the witness was with two dogs at the edge of a forested ravine on the property. For about 10-15 minutes the witness heard something large moving through dense brush, branches snapping, and continuous loud roars and screams that continued despite yelling. The dogs stayed beside the witness and would not investigate, and the witness then went inside for the night.

A couple left the trail to take photos by a creek. They heard loud deep roaring, scream-like and growl-like vocalizations approaching from across the creek, along with large branches breaking, and believed something was circling them. After the sounds stopped they felt watched, fled down the trail, and heard a large animal tracking them along the creek.

The witness and a companion were gathering cattle on horseback near a river at dusk when their horses and the cattle became agitated and the horses bolted toward the riverbank. On the sandy bank they saw a tall figure squatting, which stood up and watched them for about 30 seconds before running into the trees, breaking a small tree as it fled. The witnesses returned the next morning but found little sign due to overnight rain.
