The witness and family were camped in a mountain valley for deer season when loud screams were heard at night over four nights, seeming to come closer each night until only a few hundred feet away. The sound was described as a mix of a woman screaming and a mountain lion roar. The father and uncle later reported finding a footprint on a road that was larger than the uncle's foot. The family left camp the next day.

The witness and companions were cooking catfish at a hunting camp when a noise came from the well where fish guts had been left. The witness went toward the well with a light and rifle, heard a moan, and saw a large dark form that stood upright. After shouting warnings and firing shots in the air, the witness said the form moved off and footsteps were heard in leaves. The next day large five-toed tracks were found at the well and most of the guts were gone.

The witness and a companion were inside the home at a table when they heard a noise at a window. A figure appeared at another window very close to the witness's face and remained for a couple minutes before walking away to the east. A relative who arrived later found footprints behind the house.
Deep impressions seen in the snow
The witness and companions drove to the summit of Mt. Mitchell in snow and spotted deep impressions in a roadside snowbank on the way down at night. They returned in daylight and examined a trackway of large prints in 18-inch-deep snow leading up a steep bank into the woods. The prints were about 14 by 7 inches with faint possible toe marks and no claws, and the stride suggested a biped that climbed in two steps and stepped over a three-foot-high branch. They searched the road in both directions without finding a crossing point and concluded the animal had traveled along the road.

They told the witness's parents, returned with a tape measure, and photographed the print, which measured 13 to 14 inches long and looked wide. The witness claimed large foot-shaped tracks were found in deep snow around their home in Glendale Springs. The tracks were described as 12 to 16 inches long and spaced 5 to 6 feet apart, extending over a mile or more and appearing to cross a split-rail fence in one stride. More than ten residents and park rangers reportedly saw the tracks and photos were taken, while rangers suggested rabbits or small animals as an explanation.

The witness was riding a BMX bike on a snow-covered road in the afternoon when they saw a tall, long-haired figure crossing the road about 50 yards ahead. The figure was described as about eight feet tall with light brown hair. The witness ran inside for a camera but could not find one, and the next day found footprints with a relative.
Youth has nighttime sighting along Rock River
The witness was home alone in the evening when the dogs became agitated and ran toward the pasture and river. The witness followed carrying a shotgun and observed a hairy humanlike figure near where the dogs stopped at the river edge. After a shot was fired into the air the figure departed with a distinctive walk and the witness returned quickly to the house. Large footprints were noted in the snow between the pasture and the river.

The witness was archery hunting from a ground blind near a hog wallow when he heard close grunting and breathing that he could not see. After the sounds stopped he inspected the area and found very large scat and large deep tracks leading to and away from the scat. He first assumed hogs and then a very large bear made the sign, but later judged the scat too large for a Florida black bear.

Three people in two pickups crested a hill at dawn and noticed a fresh set of large tracks looping across an open hillside in new snow. A relative glassed the area with binoculars, became visibly upset, and said he thought he had seen bigfoot. The group did not approach the tracks or the area and avoided it altogether. The account was relayed secondhand by a close friend of one of the men.
