Family camping at Lake Somerville is menaced by a loud screaming creature
The witness and relatives were camped overnight when a foul stench filled the air and an extremely loud scream beginning as a growl was heard. The dog hid, and rounds fired into the air temporarily drove the source away, but it returned repeatedly until dawn despite a large fire. Nothing was ever seen and no unusual tracks were found, though a nearby stand of broken saplings carried the same odor.

Two campers sheltering in a tent during a severe nighttime storm heard a heavy bipedal animal circling their camp for about four hours. A couple with the wife's mother camped on newly bought mountain land. After dark a very loud siren-like scream lasting seconds came from close in the woods, prompting the husband to get a gun. Later that night something leaned against the mother's side of the tent and she struck it with a heavy lantern. The husband later said he saw red eyes during the scream.

A former law enforcement officer told two missionaries that in 1971 he took part in an agency-directed helicopter operation to kill Sasquatch living in a canyon in the Dakotas. Two smaller helicopters drove the animals while his crew photographed a female and a youngster from the air, recorded audio, then shot the youngster in the head and shot the female point-blank in the chest from a rope ladder. The female screamed and fled up the canyon with an unknown fate, while the youngster's body was bagged, netted under a helicopter and flown out. The officer said he kept the photos and cassette hidden and had told no one else.

About 50 feet ahead they heard a loud growling and screaming sound, saw trees shaking with sunlight breaking through the canopy, and felt the ground shake. In summer 1970, the witness and a companion were camping in a tent along logging roads when they heard loud ape-like screaming lasting many seconds. They saw a large dark silhouette about 150 feet away, shouted warnings and fired .22 rounds at it without effect. Upon approaching, they found the silhouette was an old logging stump. The witness estimated the screams came from within a few hundred yards, with no nearby houses.

The witness was deer hunting alone from a ground blind in northern Minnesota. A frightened doe ran into the blind and lay down behind the witness. Shortly after, two large hairy creatures appeared on either side, one stepping briefly out of a cornfield and another showing only the top of its head in brush, vocalizing and moving around before leaving, after which the deer walked away and the witness left.
