Late at night while driving to help a friend, the witness saw what first looked like logs on the roadside. On closer approach it appeared as a dark hair-covered figure seen from behind, which stepped easily over a roadside railing and went down into the woods toward power lines. The next day footprints at the spot were cast during a site visit with a local researcher.

Around 12:37 a.m. the witness was driving on Route 8 when a tall dark-furred creature carrying a deer ran into the roadway. The front passenger corner of the car struck the creature, which then slid down the length of the vehicle causing extensive damage from hood to rear. While driving at night the witness and a companion saw a tall dark figure dart across the road in front of oncoming fire trucks. The figure reportedly ran on two legs with long strides and ape-like arm swings, crossing from a cornfield into brush and woods. The witnesses interpreted it as a frightened animal rather than a person and later found no tracks at the site.

The witness and his wife were coasting on a motorcycle on a wooded road when they saw two large, black, hairy figures standing in the middle of the road facing each other. The figures looked toward them and then ran quickly into the woods in opposite directions, bent at the waist. When the couple reached the spot, the figures were gone.

Late at night the witness was driving on a narrow wooded road when a hairy figure darted from the roadside and crossed in front of the vehicle. The witness braked hard and briefly saw the figure from the side and rear in the headlights as it went up a bank into the woods. The figure was described as tall, powerfully built and long-haired with no visible neck.

The witness was riding as a front-seat passenger with two companions driving slowly on a winding park road at night with high beams on. The witness saw a large upright hair-covered being run across the road in front of the car and climb the bank into dense thickets. The driver saw movement but not details, and the occupants heard sounds of it moving upslope through leaf litter before it disappeared.

The witness, young daughter, and small dog walked an unlit road through wetland to the water. After ice-breaking triggered a heavy thud on one side, the return ice-break triggered overlapping whoops with chatter on the other side. The daughter then reported a large black man-like figure crossing the road ahead and staring at them; no tracks were found on frozen ground.

A coworker who lives in the same town was driving behind the witness at night and saw a brown hairy thing standing roadside. It lunged to the center, the truck struck its rear, and it went over the guardrail. The driver saw a hunk of hide with hair, heard a threatening voice in his head warning not to pick it up, and left. The hide was gone the next morning.

Two troopers driving back toward town in the early morning saw a huge hairy slumped creature cross the road in front of them. They stopped with lights on and watched it cross a field, go through cattails and up a bank toward the lake direction.

The group saw a very large figure drop about seven feet from a roadside stone wall, land on one foot and spring off the same foot across the road into the woods. The friend wondered how any person could move that way without gear in the dark.
