The witness was turkey hunting in a different area and saw hens on a peaceful evening. While walking out on a county road bordered by fields and honeysuckle he heard bushes shake, a grunt and loud stopping footsteps. He briefly saw a figure moving fast tree to tree off the road, ran to his truck after crossing water where the sounds stopped, and had no further incidents.

The witness returned on a Sunday afternoon to a wooded creek confluence where large tracks had been found days earlier. The witness and his son were deer hunting from a blind in darkness before dawn. After the son woke the sleeping witness, they heard something large moving fast through brush behind the blind. It screamed, stomped hard enough to shake the ground, snapped limbs, and grunted and growled before leaving quickly. The pair then left the area immediately.

The witness and her daughter were set up in the woods waiting for daylight while hunting. Right at daybreak they heard a loud sustained sound described as a combined howl, yell and growl three times, lasting about 30 seconds each, with coyotes vocalizing between the sounds. The witness was certain the main sound was not a coyote and both were frightened enough to leave.

Two companions were camping in remote steep woods while digging ginseng when they were awakened late at night by loud howls, screams, growls and chattering. Something shook trees and threw large rocks and small sapling trees into their camp for hours, retreating when the fire was built up and returning as it died down. At daylight they found saplings broken off and uprooted around camp and hiked out to the road.

To keep the mother from seeing them the grandfather had the boys wash the tracks away with well water. Later that day the brothers found matching large tracks in the field where the 1972 figure stood, measured one at about 19 inches, then heard an owl-like hoot tapering to a growl and fled.
