Two friends experienced in the woods were target shooting with rifles along a riverbank when they heard branches snapping and saw saplings swaying. They circled to investigate and found a hairy human-like creature perched on a logging deadfall that reared up and growled at close range. One friend fired several shots into its chest, it fell behind the log and appeared dead, then suddenly rose and fled toward the river while the witnesses ran to their car.
