She ran screaming to the others, and the family hurriedly broke camp while an older brother fired shots as the creature circled and crossed the road. Afterwards they found three-toed footprints near the truck and a large dent where the creature had struck the vehicle, then left immediately.

Two people were fishing at a river at night when wildlife sounds suddenly stopped. One of them went to the top of the bank with a rifle and spotlight and observed red eyes estimated to be 7 to 8 feet high near the fence. Shots were fired toward the eyes, impacts were heard, and the eyes closed with nothing further seen. The pair left quickly, had to move crowded livestock to exit, and never returned.

The companion screamed and the witness drove away to safety. The witness later returned with companions and again the next day, but the main close encounter lasted only a flash.

The guest's three uncles were camped for an extended summer stay in the pine area. Over three nights they heard dropping sounds and suspected rocks being thrown. One night something ran through camp kicking over the fire, after which they saw moving eyeshine in flashlight beams, rebuilt the fire, stayed up, and left the next day.

After getting up, the witness saw glowing red eyes and a dark outlined shape in the window behind the chair. The witness waited, then called law enforcement to report a prowler and while waiting heard windows and the back door rattle softly. Deputies arrived much later and remarked the figure must have been fairly tall, and no tracks were found the next day because of leaves.

After dark he felt watched and twice saw bright eyes, the second time discerning a large wide black shape about 20 feet away, accompanied by a repulsive odor. The next morning a crew member showed him heavy barrels that had been moved, which the witness associated with the animal.

On a clear July evening the witness was driving with a younger relative on a narrow dirt road when headlights illuminated a hair-covered creature stepping onto the road. The creature paused and looked toward the vehicle before crossing to the opposite side and entering the woods. The relative recalls being frightened that evening but recalls no further detail.

An 11-year-old on a Boy Scout camping trip left his tent around 2:30 a.m. to use the latrine near a small ravine. Hearing brush breaking across the ravine, he shone his flashlight and saw a tall hair-covered biped with a very large head, no visible neck, very long arms, and widely spaced glowing orange eyes. He fled back to the tent in terror and was not believed when he told others.

On a warm summer night in 1993, the witness rode with two companions in a truck from the lakeside cabin toward a property above. In the headlights about 100 metres away they saw a small dark hairy creature crouched on all fours in the road with long straight legs, no visible tail or protruding ears, and large bright shining eyes. After a moment of sudden fear the group drove up a driveway, discussed the sighting briefly, and returned minutes later to find nothing.

The witness was visiting a relative's remote cabin in Vermont late at night when the group heard a loud, child-like screaming approaching from a wooded ridge. The source was described as moving quickly along the ridge and disturbing dogs as it passed. It approached to within about 100 feet of the porch where the witness stood with a relative, then turned and left down the valley. The only visual was a dark shape with eyeshine about four feet off the ground, and the source was never identified.
