The witness and a companion were elk hunting off a forest road when they heard a loud sharp snap uphill interpreted as a large limb or small tree being broken. The witness sat in a parked car using a predator call to attract coyotes. Looking in the rearview mirror, they saw a hairy figure peeking from behind a tree about 60 feet away, watching the car, then moving to a second tree before disappearing from view. About 20 minutes later a cow elk walked through the same area, which the witness used to estimate the figure's height at about six feet.

After about five minutes the same loud sound recurred. The witness was driving on Highway 109 in early afternoon when a deer ran across the road, prompting slowing for a possible follower. A large bipedal male creature then ran across the road in three strides and stopped on the embankment about 20 feet away, facing the witness. After staring, the creature made a bared-teeth threat display, vocalized loudly, gestured to go away, then turned and disappeared into brush.

She found many barefoot prints of different sizes that were unusually deep in mud and showed what she interpreted as a mid-tarsal break. Later in a quarry area they reported watching a human-like figure in night-vision goggles that crouched when noticed, followed by a rock thrown nearby, after which they left.

Two people exploring logging roads by jeep stopped to scout a side road on foot. They heard knocking sounds like a stick hitting a tree, then a very loud prolonged cracking like a thick log breaking nearby. They left without seeing any people or vehicles that could explain the noises. A photo taken toward the sounds was later thought to contain something odd but was deemed inconclusive.

In April 2013 the guest took his teenage son camping at a just-opened campground off Highway 14 along the Columbia River. During a daytime walk they found an old large track, opened clam shells out of place, a fresh vine-maple twist tucked behind a fir, an 18-inch footprint beneath it, and several pushed or tossed trees. That night in camp they heard branch-breaking, felt the tarps pulled, heard splashing, felt vibration waves, and heard two wood knocks before leaving exhausted in the morning.

The witness and her husband returned home late at night and both heard a loud terrifying shriek the husband recognized from an earlier unfamiliar sound.
