The witness was bear hunting with two family members near Coal Lake and stopped to examine scat in the road. After taking a rifle from the truck, the witness heard thrashing in the brush below the road that appeared to parallel movement along the road. The source could not be seen, and the witness left feeling uneasy and frightened.

An investigator spoke with the witness by phone for about 45 minutes about the event and prior hunting experiences.
The witness returned the next day with companions to the thrashing location but found no obvious signs.
An investigator visited the location with another investigator but limited calling due to campers in the area.
The investigator returned the next day in daylight but found no evidence of animal movement at the indicated spot.
