Possible sighting by camper in wee hours at Sabbath Day Point, Lake George
The witness was camping in a tent near Sabathday Point and stepped outside in the early morning to make a phone call. After the call he heard a noise and saw a large hairy human-shaped figure about 60 feet away walking up a slight incline. He watched for about five seconds, noted it lacked a bear-like snout, then ran back to the tent to tell his companions.
Two hunters experience vocalizations and encounter very large unknown animal
Two companions grouse hunting in a wooded gorge heard loud screaming-growl vocalizations from about 30 yards away in dense cover. The source moved around them with audible footsteps in snow and breaking branches, seeming to flank them and get behind them. After several minutes they left the area quickly while looking back and did not return.
Multiple observations over three year span
The witness and his wife snowshoed into their wooded farm property in winter and found two sets of large human-shaped footprints in snow. The prints were old and melted, about 15-16 inches long with about a 52-inch step, extending over 200 yards and separating then rejoining. The witness compared the alternating left-right stride to his own stride and to leaping deer tracks, concluding the stride was too long for a human and the shape differed from deer.

The witness was hunting turkey with a relative on wooded state land when he noticed movement about 20 yards away. He observed a stocky, hair-covered biped at least six feet tall that swiftly ran downhill and out of sight. The relative was looking another direction and did not see it. In September 2000 the witness was near home bordering extensive forest when a long howl was heard approaching from a distance at dusk. The witness went into the woods with two dogs, a spotlight and a weapon to intercept what was first assumed to be a hunter's dog, but saw no hunter lights while the sound moved rapidly to within about 120 yards on the same level. The dogs behaved unusually and the witness felt terror, concluding the source was not a known dog or coyote, a view reinforced by later failure to match the sound to recorded wolf sounds and by nearby residents reporting similar howls.
A bicyclist's daylight, partial sighting of a large animal with a rancid smell
The witness was riding a bike on a country road in the morning when a very strong rancid smell was noticed. A patch of brown fur was glimpsed ahead about six feet off the ground moving back into the woods, with no road crossing seen. A chained dog across the road was barking toward the woods and appeared agitated. On riding past the spot again shortly after, the smell was gone and nothing further was seen or heard.

A group of girls on a summer-camp hike entered a swamp-like area where they heard twigs snap, smelled a foul odor, and saw a dark hairy bipedal creature moving among trees. The creature paused and looked toward them after one girl screamed, and the group fled. A counselor later told them it was a bear, which the witness doubted because it walked on two legs and was in a swamp.

A couple left the trail to take photos by a creek. They heard loud deep roaring, scream-like and growl-like vocalizations approaching from across the creek, along with large branches breaking, and believed something was circling them. After the sounds stopped they felt watched, fled down the trail, and heard a large animal tracking them along the creek.

They heard a very loud deep roaring and screaming vocalization approaching from across the creek, repeated several times, with breaking branches as it circled and then followed them as they fled. Frightened, they gathered their belongings and ran back down the trail while the animal tracked them from alongside the creek.
Campers describe a possible approach to a camp near Lake George, Adirondacks
Six people were camping at a lakeside site late at night. After most of the group went to bed, the witness entered a tent set very close to the water. The witness and a companion heard splashing and branches moving behind the tent, then the witness saw an elbow-like shape drag down the tent wall. This was followed by loud heavy thuds of something running away from camp.

Two companions driving slowly on a dark rural road late at night noticed a large dark figure standing on a steep bank at the road edge. They initially thought it was a large person in dark clothing, but as they passed within a few feet it turned its torso to look at them, showing a broad human-like face with a very wide upturned nose, a large torso with breasts, and a conical head with dark coarse hair. They concluded it did not appear human and continued driving without stopping.

The witness was deer hunting along a logging road in a mountainous area in 1999 when he noticed wide, footlike tracks in mud and a sudden strong foul odor. The smell dissipated quickly but was unlike anything he had encountered before, including bear odor. The toe details of the tracks were obscured by mud, preventing determination of claws or other features. He reported feeling unsettled and later told family and hunting companions.

They described it as 7 to 9 feet tall, covered head to toe in fur, and running faster than anything they had seen. After it ran out of sight, they ran inside to tell an adult, who did not believe them, and they stayed inside because they were frightened.
