The witness stayed in camp alone while companions left on a long hike. During an afternoon walk on a game trail a few hundred yards from camp, the witness encountered a large hairy biped and stared at it briefly before it walked away. The witness returned to camp and later concluded it was likely the same figure a companion had seen near camp the previous night.

The witness was driving home across a bridge over a river and looked down the river, noticing a large hair-covered figure standing on two legs in the middle of the water. As the witness braked, the figure turned its head to look at the witness, then passed out of view behind the bridge embankment. The witness circled back and stopped, but the figure was gone, and emphasized it was not a bear.

The witness shot a deer at dusk and dragged it toward his truck after dark. On the trail he saw a widely spaced pair of large eyes at about his own height that stayed after he fired a handgun into the ground, then left to the side through dense brush with loud crashing. He smelled a foul musky odor and found pushed-over vegetation where it left, felt watched while field-dressing the deer, and later found part of the carcass dragged about 300 yards.

While camping with family, the witness was awakened around 2 a.m. by repeated whooping calls coming from multiple directions. The calls appeared to move toward the northeast and at times sounded within about 100 yards, with walking sounds also heard near the campsite. No animal was seen.

The witness and a companion were driving home from a late-night shopping trip when their headlights revealed an animal in the road ahead. They watched it move on two legs in a sideways manner from one side of the road to the other while looking toward their vehicle, then disappear into a field. They slowed to look into the field but saw no further sign of it and later concluded it must have lain down in the grass.

The witness was checking a corn pile behind his home when he came upon a tall hairy creature eating corn. The creature was first seen sitting with its back to him, then stood and faced him from about 25 yards away. After regarding him briefly it walked away into deeper woods. The sighting lasted about a minute in clear morning light.

The witness was walking through a field to a friend's house late at night when they noticed a dark figure standing at the edge of pines. After watching briefly, the figure turned toward the witness, screamed for an extended period, and ran on two legs into the woods with visible arm swing while crashing through brush. The witness was frightened, continued to the friend's house, and reported no further sightings.

The witness was camped in a tent at a primitive site in mixed forest when, in the dark early-morning hours, footsteps were heard crunching through dry leaves off-trail. The unseen walker came from dense woods behind the tent, crossed the trail, and continued east smoothly without a light. The witness stayed still and never saw the source, but later insisted it was certainly bipedal and not a deer.

While scouting and then deer hunting near a river over several weeks, the witness reports a persistent foul odor, sounds of being followed, and repeated loud wood knocks. The witness found single very large deeply impressed tracks on two occasions, plus stick formations, flattened vegetation, long strides in leaves, and animal remains including hide on a high limb and a bloody disturbed area. A wildlife biologist viewed the first track but considered it contaminated, and later investigators visiting the site found no tracks or signs.

The witness and two friends were on a three-day hiking and camping trip in the mountains near Asheville. On the third day they were spread out traversing a steep slope when the witness stopped to rest and heard movement in thick brush below. Something rushed from behind, knocked him into a tree, then stood over him as he lay on his stomach, vocalizing loudly when he tried to look up and swaying while breathing heavily. It glanced toward a second noise downhill, then left as the friends approached calling out, leaving the witness injured and shaken.
Possible howls heard in the Three Top Mountain area
The witness was staying alone for a week at a secluded rental house on a fishing trip. On two evenings he heard long, deep howls coming from the northwest, each lasting about 30 seconds and repeating every 15-20 minutes for about two hours on the first night and more distantly on the second. The howls prompted barking from local dogs. He said they sounded very similar to the 1994 Ohio Moaning Howl recording.

Early in the morning the witness took the dog out to the end of the driveway before work. The dog alerted toward the treeline, then the witness heard a loud howl and wood-on-wood sounds very close and glimpsed a figure by a tree. After going back inside and leaving again, the witness heard footsteps in the dark and saw a huge dark upright figure moving along the fence and driveway by a pond, later noticing a foul odor and disturbed leaves in the area.

The witness and a companion were camping and sitting around a campfire at midnight when they heard a single loud, low-pitched prolonged howl estimated at about ten seconds that seemed to come from several ridges away and grew stronger at the end. They considered non-Sasquatch explanations such as sirens, fireworks, and human vocalization but felt none fit. Their dog became attentive and briefly moved toward the sound then returned, and no further signs were noted that night.
