They heard grunting and movement in bushes beside a large tree and saw a large black-brown human-like figure near the tree. The witness and at least one other person parked on a dirt road near a stream at night. They heard sloshing in the water and later saw a large figure run across the road ahead of the headlights and heard heavy steps in sagebrush. Using a spotlight they glimpsed a tall dark primate-like figure cross in front of a large boulder and enter dense timber.

Two hunters on a hillside noticed movement below them and went downhill to investigate but found nothing. About 5-10 minutes later after climbing back to the trail they found large deep footprints overlying their own earlier footprints. The witness was riding a horse on a wooded dirt road at dusk when the horse became agitated. After hearing rustling and a loud scream, the witness saw eyes and then a large upright creature that lunged out and seized the saddle. Face to face with the creature, the witness clung to the horse's neck as it bolted without looking back. The saddle was later described as torn with deep gouges.

The witness was camped alone with a dog near a sinkhole on a farm bluff to feed horses in the morning. After building a fire and cooking, loud grunts, growls and scream-like screeches came from the sinkhole while many young trees shook violently despite little wind. Horses stared then fled, the dog stayed close shaking, and a brief odd odor was noticed. Frightened, the witness doused the fire and left with the dog, and reports avoiding woods since.

This was followed by a loud, high-pitched scream described as like a woman screaming, estimated to be 30-50 yards away. The group was terrified and left the area immediately.

The witness was camping with family and climbed a hill with cousins, rolling rocks from the top. They heard crashing in aspens across a ravine and saw a tall, long-haired figure standing on two legs about 300 feet away watching them for several minutes. After watching it rock back and forth, the group ran back down the hill. The witness maintains decades later that it was not a bear.

In July 1977 the witness was helping a relative fix fence on a hill behind the ranch around noon. He and the relative saw two tall pine trees sway inside the fence line and then heard a loud yelling uhhing sound. A tall tree bent sharply and crashing movement through dense brush showed where a large animal was moving.

The guest and his younger brother were on summer vacation at their grandfather's hillside house in West Virginia. After the younger brother fled the back bedroom saying a hairy face had pushed through the unscreened window while sniffing the air, both boys ran outside and, in headlights reflected off the siding, watched a dark bipedal figure go down the rear embankment and crash through a dense briar thicket. The next morning their uncle turned pale when told and warned them to stay out of the back.
