Boar hunters find fresh footprints north of Lake Cachuma

Two hunters on a hillside noticed movement below them and went downhill to investigate but found nothing. About 5-10 minutes later after climbing back to the trail they found large deep footprints overlying their own earlier footprints. They followed the prints for about a mile to a vantage point where the trail ahead was empty, then gave up and returned.

Deep footprints found on trail overlying the hunters' own footprints and followed for about a mile
Measurements: about 18 inches long and approximately 40 inches apart
Detailed footprint traits: flat with no arch, straight-sided, stubby equal toes with no claws, narrow straddle in straight line
Measurements: 4.5 inches wide at heel, 5.5 inches wide at toes, 38 to 40 inches step
An investigator spoke to the witness by phone and recorded additional details about the movement distance and footprints.
