As he passed, he observed its large upper body, human-like face, and yellowish-green eyes watching him before it turned into the brush. He heard non-hooved footsteps moving in brush behind him, followed by a very loud sustained scream-howl from very close range. Two occupants of a truck on Highway 131 near Brackettville saw a large hairy creature cross the road about 300 yards ahead in the morning. When they reached the spot the creature was gone, but they found a patch of long brown hair on a barbed-wire fence. The witness later heard from a relative that local ranchers had reported similar sightings in the area.

The witness was hunting squirrels in a wooded clearing when a tall, dark, hairy figure appeared about 15 feet away. The two reportedly stared at each other for about ten seconds before the witness cocked a shotgun and the figure quickly turned and left into dense foliage. The creature was observed briefly from the side as it walked into tall cattails beside the road. During an evening hunt the witness and a relative followed the blood trail of a wounded deer. The trail grew faint and straight over obstacles, leading them to infer the deer was being carried. From across a clearing they heard an extremely loud roaring howl, answering growls and whoop-like replies, plus heavy footsteps on a fire lane mistaken for the witness. They never saw the source and later searches found no carcass or sign.

She turned and saw a tall black hairy block-built figure staring at her for a few seconds before it stepped sideways into dense forest. Its departure shook trees and flushed birds, and the companions heard the crashing but did not see the figure; the group declined to go ashore to look for footprints.

Around 1990 the witness was called to a friend's rural property after livestock losses and a hog attack. At the hog pen the witness and others found large human-like footprints in the dirt. Plaster casts and photographs were made of one print, with the cast later displayed and retained. Additional prints were later found leading toward a nearby cabin.

The witness was deer hunting alone from an elevated stand before dawn under a full moon. A large bipedal figure emerged from dense woods and walked along a pipeline clearing toward his position, then turned to face him after hearing his rifle safety click, walked backward briefly, spun around and reentered the woods. A larger tree nearby then shook violently, and after sunrise the witness and his companion found worn trails and a footprint but no clear tracks.
