The witness was sitting alone by a campfire late at night when they heard something moving through woods toward neighboring houses, sounding bipedal. Several minutes later they heard a distant wood knock to one side, an answering knock from the opposite direction, then another knock from the first direction. The witness described the sequence as an instantaneous call and response in an otherwise quiet neighborhood.

The witness and his brother were coyote hunting at night from a blind with an electronic call. They heard owl-like hooting from nearby that shifted into loud monkey-like screaming, followed by loud bipedal running directly behind the blind. They could not see anything with night vision and the sounds stopped abruptly, after which they left for the truck.
Footsteps in New York (2014)
The day after Thanksgiving in 2014 the witness walked with family and a friend to and from a quarry in the dark. Footsteps on one side paced them, stopping when they stopped and starting when they started, maintaining distance over about a quarter to half mile. They shone flashlights behind them and saw nothing, and the follower did not pass a certain point on the return.

The guest, then in early teens, was camping in a tent with a teenage friend and the friend's father at a lake-side campground in the Adirondacks. Late at night the woods went silent and heavy bipedal footsteps approached the tent, then a very large hand pushed the tent wall inward. After the friend's father mumbled in his sleep the hand withdrew, and the visitor rummaged through a cooler on the picnic table before walking into the lake and swimming away. In the morning the cooler had been moved, items were strewn, and an oily feel and stale smell were noticed.

The witness and a companion were on a multi-day backcountry hike and stopped at dusk near a river to find shelter. They heard an extremely loud prolonged scream from across the water followed by large rocks splashing near them. As they continued hiking, they heard more splashes, sensed something paralleling them, and heard a large animal cross the river and run into the woods.

While camping in a tent with six others, the witness heard something large moving near camp followed by distinctive hoot-whoop vocalizations attributed to two or possibly three animals. The sounds moved away from the camp and then returned about two hours later. All seven tent occupants heard the sounds.

Two companions hiking back from a mountain trail claim rocks were thrown toward them from the woods over an extended period, starting with misses above and behind them and later coming close enough to duck. They also report hearing an unidentified whining sound, possible footsteps, knock-like sounds, and a tree being shaken, without ever seeing the source. Near the area they noticed a green limb broken high and left hanging.

The witness was hiking alone on a section of the Appalachian Trail when footsteps began pacing him from off-trail to his left. He glimpsed a dark figure and then rocks began flying past him, prompting him to jog and then sprint toward a road. The pursuer kept pace while breaking saplings and trees before stopping near the road, after which the witness calmed down and returned to his car.

Three friends were on a late-night bike ride and had stopped to talk by a pond. They noticed a tall tan-or-gray figure standing behind a tree in the darkness. As they approached, the figure moved bipedally across the path toward the woods and one witness saw it glance back. The group followed to the wood line and heard movement in the branches for a short time before silence.

Two deer hunters walking a creek bottom heard movement paralleling them on a deer trail, then saw a figure moving bipedally through the woods about 60 yards away. They watched it cross the creek, climb the banks, and run along a power line into pines where the sounds eventually stopped. They tried to backtrack it but lost sign beyond a farm pond.

They heard a series of loud screams unlike any known animal, followed by something large running through the woods and breaking branches. The source moved around them with audible footsteps in snow and breaking branches, seeming to flank them and get behind them. A group of girls on a summer-camp hike entered a swamp-like area where they heard twigs snap, smelled a foul odor, and saw a dark hairy bipedal creature moving among trees. The creature paused and looked toward them after one girl screamed, and the group fled. A counselor later told them it was a bear, which the witness doubted because it walked on two legs and was in a swamp.
