The witness and his sister were waiting at a rarely used roadside bus stop before sunrise when they smelled a foul odor and heard low grunting that grew louder and more aggressive. A large dark-brown figure then knocked over a small dead tree across the road and ran toward them. Both fled a short distance to their house, with the figure closing to within a few feet before continuing into the woods.

The witness was canoeing alone on the river in the afternoon and had to pull out to drag the canoe around a log jam. He smelled a terrible odor and was paced by something unseen that stopped when he stopped, then heard screaming, breaking limbs, and saw a large log thrown and trees violently shaking. He fled in the canoe to the center of the river.

The witness walked to a railroad crossing late at night and heard loud screams and thrashing in nearby woods. Rocks landed around the witness, including one larger rock seen coming through the trees, and the witness threw a rock back before leaving. The witness and a companion were night fishing for bass around an island. They heard several loud splashes from rocks hitting near the boat and then saw a huge upright figure in shadows on the ridge that growled. The figure tore a large limb from a pine and carried it down toward them as they motored away, and they returned at daylight to examine and measure the limb.

A group of seven hikers were hiking on a mountain trail in the afternoon. They heard cackling, yelping, growling and moaning sounds and found the trail blocked by a large uprooted stump with placed boulders and smashed trees. Two upright figures, one black and one light brown and hairy, were seen moving parallel to the group and leaping down a cliff, while the group felt stalked and watched as they hurried out to the road.

After revving the truck engine the sounds crashed rapidly downhill, and the pair left, seeing deer run across the road as they drove out.

They heard persistent huffing and a growl, experienced silence and a sense of being watched, and reported a dark shape blocking a camper window. Two of them went onto the patio with a rifle and flashlight; when the light was pointed at the treeline the shrieks stopped and something was heard moving away through the woods while grunting deeply. The next day the witness followed a wide trail of fresh tree damage through the woods for about two hours.

The witness and a companion camped in Wayne National Forest over a holiday weekend. After mimicking animal sounds in the evening, the witness stayed awake through the night hearing crashes, footsteps, grunts and mimicking speech, and saw eye shine high off the ground. In the morning the pair found a snapped tree, strong odor, widely spaced ground marks and a five-toed partial print, which the witness attributed to a large visitor.

The witness and a companion were parked in a truck at a mountain road landing late at night and watched a wild boar rooting in snow. After the boar fled, an upright figure appeared at the tree line, stood over the boar's spot, and was then illuminated by high beams. The figure blocked the light, showed glowing eyes, grunted, crossed the road in three strides, grabbed a sapling and disappeared uphill, leaving a strong odor.
