Youth has nighttime sighting along Rock River
The witness was home alone in the evening when the dogs became agitated and ran toward the pasture and river. The witness followed carrying a shotgun and observed a hairy humanlike figure near where the dogs stopped at the river edge. After a shot was fired into the air the figure departed with a distinctive walk and the witness returned quickly to the house. Large footprints were noted in the snow between the pasture and the river.

After the sounds stopped he inspected the area and found very large scat and large deep tracks leading to and away from the scat. Three people in two pickups crested a hill at dawn and noticed a fresh set of large tracks looping across an open hillside in new snow. A relative glassed the area with binoculars, became visibly upset, and said he thought he had seen bigfoot. The group did not approach the tracks or the area and avoided it altogether. A homeowner had shot a deer and hung it in a tree behind the house. That night while going to let dogs out, he heard an unfamiliar scream and saw a large ape-like creature in the yard. The creature seized the deer and fled into the forest, tearing out a stretch of barbed-wire fence and leaving hair and tracks. A friend visiting the next day was shown where it stood and ran, including the tracks and hair.

In May/June 1986, the witness was helping a companion gather firewood on a farm when they found trees stripped of bark with snapped branches. Later, while sitting by a pond, the witness saw a very tall, muscular, reddish-brown upright creature about 100 feet away at an electric fence near tobacco trailers. The creature sniffed the air and grunted while a dog barked, then ran back into the woods. The companion's father arrived with a shotgun and found footprints larger than his boot where the creature had stood.

The source of the noise was gone by the time they reached the top, and they returned cross-country to the main trail.

At dawn the witness found the campsite duff heavily scuffed with signs of foot traffic that had not been there the previous evening.

The witness was on night shift at an isolated gravel pit and walked up the hill to the porta potty during a break on a bright moonlit night. He mistook an approaching figure for a co-worker, hid to startle him, then came face to face at about 15 feet with a very large hairy biped that grunted, producing a visible cloud of breath. The creature walked into the bush and snapped a large branch, the witness fled down to the crusher, drove to town, and later returned with his friend to find a torn branch and large spaced steps leading to a ledge.
