The witness hiked into dense timber to scout for signs and found arches, tree breaks, and woven saplings. After hearing an unexplained sharp noise from the hilltop, the witness waited and then heard two distinct clacks described as rocks struck together. The witness then left the hill and exited the area.
Deer hunter finds possible footprint near Ellerbe
While scouting and then deer hunting near a river over several weeks, the witness reports a persistent foul odor, sounds of being followed, and repeated loud wood knocks. The witness found single very large deeply impressed tracks on two occasions, plus stick formations, flattened vegetation, long strides in leaves, and animal remains including hide on a high limb and a bloody disturbed area. A wildlife biologist viewed the first track but considered it contaminated, and later investigators visiting the site found no tracks or signs.

Inside and around it he reported reddish hair, many large fibrous scat piles, snapped branches, and a single large bare footprint. The witness was patrolling near wooded wetlands late in the morning and noticed unusual limb arches, teepee-like and X formations near the road. While investigating on foot he felt watched and heard brush movement that seemed to shadow him without fleeing, but he never obtained a clear visual. While the husband explored the wooded edge alone, he heard whisper-like voices and mirrored footsteps that left him uneasy. The group apologized, left tobacco, and departed without investigating further because of the children.

Three companions were walking a little-used logging trail north of North Bay near dusk when they found two barefoot-like half prints at the edge of a large puddle. The prints were described as human-like with five toes but about twice the width of the witness's own foot, with no other tracks around. Earlier on the same walk they had seen a small healthy tree snapped off high above the ground, and afterward they noticed bent trees that resembled a sleeping spot, though they discounted both.

While hunting deer alone in the morning, the witness heard repeated sounds like logs or poles being thrown, then found a tree with bark removed, a large packed bed, a human-like track, and unfamiliar scat. After glimpsing brown fur duck behind a log, the witness heard an extremely loud low roar-like yell from behind with crashing, then heard crashing and throwing sounds staying out of sight while leaving for about 200 yards. No full animal was clearly seen.

Two companions hiked in a dense second-growth gorge to look around the landowner's property. They found a concealed woven tunnel of undergrowth leading to a domed chamber and entered it but found no evidence or odor. Both felt suddenly spooked without seeing or hearing anything and left quickly, and bad weather prevented a return.

They later found uprooted small trees, additional tracks in camp, hair on fencing, and a woody debris structure, and heard screaming and a howl that prompted a relative to leave camp.
