The witness was camped with two companions around a fire after dark and howled to try to get a response. The witness reports hearing answering howls 10-12 times, coming progressively closer from about a mile away to about an eighth to a quarter mile. The companions retreated to the RV while the witness scanned the trees with a flashlight holding a revolver, after which the replies stopped.

A loud sound described as between a howl and a scream came from the woods to the west and lasted 3-5 minutes. The witness arrived before daylight to deer hunt from a ground blind near a road above a steep slope. From inside the blind he heard coyotes, then hollering, rock-banging or wood-knock sounds, and whoops as something ran up the slope, crossed the road, and stopped in thick brush behind him. He then heard loud raspy breathing and growling and smelled a strong obnoxious odor for about five minutes before the animal ran away along the treeline and the woods went quiet.

A couple staying overnight on the screened porch of a wooded cabin report two nights of disturbance in June 2017. The first night included talk-like and giggling sounds followed by an hour of limbs breaking all around them. The second night something vocalized loudly near the creek, rushed toward the cabin causing felt impacts, then ran off breaking wood. The next morning they found widespread broken limbs and a snapped tree but no footprints, and did not return.
