The witness was archery hunting from a ground blind near a hog wallow when he heard close grunting and breathing that he could not see. After the sounds stopped he inspected the area and found very large scat and large deep tracks leading to and away from the scat. He first assumed hogs and then a very large bear made the sign, but later judged the scat too large for a Florida black bear.

A relative glassed the area with binoculars, became visibly upset, and said he thought he had seen bigfoot. The group did not approach the tracks or the area and avoided it altogether. Two people hiking a mountain trail in the morning reported seeing the back of a large black animal. They estimated its height from where its back had touched a tree branch. They also reported a wet-dog-like odor, a trail made by the animal, and a bed of leaves under cedar trees.

The witness reports that while cutting firewood with a relative on a saturated old road on a morning after overnight rain, they discovered a single large three-toed footprint. The print was described as about 14.5 inches long and nearly 5 inches wide and pressed about two inches deep. A relative attempted to replicate the depth with his own step but made only a shallow impression, leading them to infer great weight. No photograph or cast was made and a brief search found no additional prints.

The witness and three companions were on a canoe-camping trip in the Boundary Waters. While visiting a creek waterfall alone, the witness heard circling footsteps and loud wood-on-tree knocks, then returned to camp. The group returned together, heard knocks nearby, and one companion briefly chased the sound before feeling lured away. That night they heard a loud splash near their island camp, and at dawn found a very large wet footprint by their canoes before leaving the area.

The witness and a companion were driving remote back roads at night scouting for deer sign in snowy conditions. They discovered very large human-like bipedal tracks in fresh snow and traced them along the roadway for close to a mile. The tracks stayed mostly on one side of the road before descending into a creek where they were lost, leading the witness to conclude they were not made by a known animal or person on foot.

The witness and a friend were walking their dog on a trail when the dog lunged up a steep embankment toward loud crunching and branch-breaking sounds from above. They followed a short way to the top of a ridge but the source of the noise was gone. On top they found freshly broken lower tree branches up to 10 feet high and foot-like impressions in the duff without claw marks, then returned cross-country to the trail.

At dawn the witness found the campsite duff heavily scuffed with signs of foot traffic that had not been there the previous evening.

As children, the witness and a sibling companion went to play on a creek that had partly thawed and then refrozen hard overnight. They found a line of barefoot-like prints with distinct toes crossing the ice for about twenty feet and continuing up a steep bank. No other prints were present, and the witness judged a human origin unlikely because of the remote location and freezing weather.

In early fall 1996 the witness stopped to pick mushrooms near the Satsop River after checking leases. While kneeling with the dog close by, the witness smelled a strong putrid odor, stood up, and saw a large dark hairy creature standing in a fern patch about 200 feet away. They made eye contact, the creature turned its head and torso showing long arm hair, then walked quickly away. The witness left the area and told no one for a couple days.

During the afternoon hike they repeatedly glimpsed a large black figure at a distance and found very large tracks and broken branches high above the ground. That night at a near-summit camp the group heard multiple loud roars and stayed awake by the fire, also hearing movement below. They found no further sign on the hike out and agreed not to tell others.
