The witness and a companion were working late at night preparing meat to feed sled dogs. While inside a walk-in freezer, the heavy door shut on them unexpectedly despite calm conditions. After exiting, they shone a light toward a trailer and saw a pair of very large reflective eyes about seven feet off the ground roughly twenty yards away. The eyes were gone after they returned with a brighter light, and the dogs that had been barking fell silent.

During a daytime hike up a drainage on 10 Sept, the witness stopped at an old hunting camp and heard two clear wood knocks about 150-200 yards away. After confirming by radio that no other participants were nearby or knocking, the witness knocked back and received an immediate two-knock reply from slightly farther away. Further knocks and whoops over about 30 minutes drew no additional replies, and no movement or odor was noticed. The witness then returned to camp and later revisited the area by ATV with others.

As they moved uphill using alternating advances, each heard an unrecognized whistle and the sound of a large boulder rolling, with neither attributing the sounds to the other. Both reported a feeling of being followed uphill.

After hiking Mt. Massive, the witness was walking toward the trailhead parking lot in daylight when he heard loud crunching footsteps moving away through dense trees to his right. The unseen source, estimated 100 to 150 feet away, produced two identical very loud deep resonant barks spaced about 20 to 30 seconds apart. He never saw the animal and heard nothing else. He first assumed a bear but later doubted it because the steps sounded bipedal and he found no matching bear sound.

The witness reports finding tracks in soft soil at the edge of a freshwater lake in early October 1999, first a single set and then about two weeks later three sets of different sizes. The tracks were where large-leafed underwater plants were growing, and the plants appeared stripped from the water where the tracks were found. The witness and a companion were camping in a tent at Alexander Springs. After playing cards until about 3 a.m., the companion fell asleep while the witness lay awake. The witness heard surrounding animal sounds fall silent, smelled a skunk-like odor, saw a tall upright shadow on the tent wall and heard a grunt-like noise. In the morning the coolers had been ransacked, and the pair left the campground early the next night after feeling uneasy.
Man finds and casts large footprints after hearing of sighting
After hearing about a reported sighting, the witness went with a companion the next morning to the described location to look for footprints. They found large footprints crossing a sandy road from a clear-cut area into a swamp, noted a long stride, depth, and disturbed tree blossoms, and made plaster casts. No creature was seen during this visit.
Possible tracks and sounds outside a home near Lady Lake
As a child staying at a relative's house near lakes and woods, the witness heard growling, snorting and footsteps outside a bedroom window late at night and stayed in bed frightened. The noises lasted several minutes. The next morning the witness found two very large human-like bare footprints in a sand pile in the driveway and measured them, but relatives dismissed them. The witness now interprets the incident as involving a bigfoot.
