A couple driving home at night turned onto their rural street and saw a dark-haired ape-like animal in the headlights a few feet ahead. The animal avoided the lights and bounded quickly on its forelimbs in a gorilla-like manner across a neighbor's lawn before disappearing. Both adults observed the movement, though only the husband saw its fingered hands picking at the ground.

The witness was riding as a passenger with a relative driving home when they crossed a bridge over a river. A family of four was camping in the primitive area of a park at night when sticks and possible rocks were thrown from the woods and strange noises were heard. After a loud bang on a nearby wooden outhouse, a witness saw a tall dark hairy figure run into the woods. A responding ranger searched the woods, found no one and no damage, and noted the family were the only campers in that section.
