The witness was driving north on Highway 349 around 5 a.m. on Feb. 9, 1998. In the middle of the road the witness saw a small reddish long-haired ape-like creature about 5-foot-5 to 6 feet tall picking up roadkill. The creature then ran off into the woods.

The witness was driving a truck at night when a dark figure was seen on the roadside appearing to roll on the ground. As the truck got closer the figure stood upright on two legs, moved toward the side of the road, and then jumped up and down while hitting its chest. The witness drove past without stopping and continued on.

The witness was fishing when a tall reddish-brown creature emerged from the trees and walked along the shoreline. It stopped and looked toward the witness, who called a fishing partner over to confirm the sighting. After low cloud obscured the view, both witnesses returned to their vehicle and left the area.

The witness estimated it at 6-7 feet tall and over 300 pounds, moving very fast in a few steps with arms pumping and a hunched posture. The witness and a companion were hiking in woods near the witness's home when the companion hurt an ankle and sat to rest. The witness walked about 50 feet ahead and encountered a huge, tall, hairy creature kneeling. The creature chased the witness, and both individuals fled out of the woods. When they looked back, it was gone.

In summer 1998 around dusk, the witness and a friend were sitting at a picnic table in a wooded lakeside picnic area when they saw three brownish creatures of different sizes emerge from the treeline near the lake about 40 to 50 feet away. Both individuals observed the creatures standing near the trees. The witness could provide no further detail about their appearance.

The witness had camped alone in a remote valley and left before dawn to hunt elk from a high outcropping. After sunrise he noticed a dark figure squatting by a beaver pond that then stood upright, looked in his direction, and walked through the creek toward his camp before continuing up a ridge. After watching for several minutes, he left the overlook, packed his camp, and says he has not returned.

The witness and a companion were parked in a truck at a mountain road landing late at night and watched a wild boar rooting in snow. After the boar fled, an upright figure appeared at the tree line, stood over the boar's spot, and was then illuminated by high beams. The figure blocked the light, showed glowing eyes, grunted, crossed the road in three strides, grabbed a sapling and disappeared uphill, leaving a strong odor.

The witness and his brother were cutting firewood near a river when the witness noticed movement on a distant slope across the river. After losing it briefly, the witness watched through binoculars as a bulky dark-haired figure walked upright downhill for about 100 yards. About half an hour later while loading the truck in near-darkness, the witness heard an unfamiliar high-pitched squealing noise from upriver.

Late on a cold fall night, the witness walked out of a separate laundry building at a rural apartment complex and saw a human-like creature about 20 feet away searching through a dumpster under bright lot lights. The two looked at each other briefly, then the witness ran toward the apartment, fell on a gravel road, and looked back to see the creature running away about 200 feet distant.

In November 1997 the witness looked from an upstairs window and saw two gray upright figures at the woods edge about 100 yards behind the house. He watched for about ten seconds while they stood side by side swaying, then ran downstairs and outside but they were gone. Before sunrise during deer shotgun season, the witness sat against a tree near a damaged bridge and dozed off. After hearing a twig snap, he saw a tall dark figure walking with long strides along a trail and crossing the washed-out bridge without breaking stride. He first assumed it was another hunter, but later realized no other hunters were present and the figure wore no orange.
Hunter's sighting near gravel pits outside Floodwood
The witness was deer hunting from an elevated stand in late afternoon when branches began breaking as something approached. A tall, thick, long-haired biped stopped about 30 yards away for several seconds, gave a very loud howl, then rapidly retreated through thick swamp while breaking vegetation and howled again while moving away to the southwest. The frightened witness ran to the car and later said the experience ended his hunting in that area.
