The witness, a police officer on midnight patrol, was driving back toward town when he noticed movement in the roadside ditch. Moments later a hair-covered figure ran across the road in front of his vehicle from west to east, visible only from thigh to shoulder in the headlights. He stopped to look but it was gone, and the next morning he found grass impressions showing heel and toes.

The witness and three companions were socializing at a gravel turnout late at night. The witness noticed a tall, solid-black, man-like outline about 15 yards away behind a boulder barrier. After about five seconds, the figure turned and walked on two legs down a ledge and into the tree line. Two companions also reported seeing it, while the third companion did not see it before it disappeared.

Three youths arriving home late at night saw a person-like form rise from where it had appeared as a stump near the water about 150 feet away. The figure walked quickly east along the shore, then turned and moved quickly back across the yard toward marshy woods by the trailer while making heavy running sounds. The youths rushed inside the residence and locked the door, remaining upset through the night.

Two coworkers were pumping feed into silos on a turkey farm after midnight. One smelled an unfamiliar odor and shone a spotlight, spotting an animal behind a barn picking objects from the ground and blocking the light with its hand. He alerted his coworker, who also shone his light, saw the large creature walking toward him, then retreated to the front of the farm.

Near the top of a hill, a tall hair-covered figure came down the left embankment, crossed the road directly in front of the truck in a single long step, and continued down the steep slope on the right, dislodging dust and rocks. The witness did not stop, returned to camp, loaded the horse which was uneasy, and left for home.

They stopped and saw a tall reddish-brown figure standing by a tree, which then turned and moved quickly away into thick brush with long hairy arms swinging. Frightened, they turned the truck around and drove quickly back to the house where they told a relative.

The witness watched a tall, dark-haired, muscular bipedal animal on the riverbank that looked toward the gathering group for several minutes. When flashlights were shone toward it, it ran into the riverside woods, pushing trees aside, and was briefly seen again as a silhouette in an uphill clearing before disappearing.

While stopped with the passenger window open, the witness heard an extremely loud scream and then saw a tall, dark-haired, muscular creature a few feet from the car. The creature took a couple of large steps toward the redwoods, went around a tree, and disappeared into dense brush. The encounter lasted only a few seconds and left the witness badly shaken.

The witness was driving on a gravel road looking for a bow-season campsite in late morning. Glancing in the rearview mirror, the witness saw a very tall, broad, dark upright creature standing in the middle of the road behind the vehicle. After stopping, the witness watched it pivot, take a step to the side of the road, and disappear down a steep rocky slope. No definite footprints were found in the gravel where it had stood.
Tracks and feces found in freshly turned field
While preparing a field for planting, workers found large five-toed tracks and two very large cylindrical feces in a freshly plowed field. The tracks led from a grassy area onto a dirt road, into the field where the maker appeared to squat, dig up and eat turtle eggs, then continued into bordering woods. The reporter photographed the sign with a yardstick, made left and right foot casts, and collected fecal and eggshell samples for examination.
