As he drove closer the figure walked upright off the road into brush beside a stump, where he took a cell phone photo. He estimated the figure at about seven to eight feet tall, very dark with several-inch-long hair, and said it did not resemble local wildlife he knows well.

The witness was driving north on Highway 101 north of Willits in daylight when a large hair-covered biped entered the roadway and ran across the lanes in front of the car. The witness braked and then stopped as the animal paused at the road edge about 25 feet away, turned its upper body and stared for about five seconds. The animal then bounded up a steep embankment on all fours and left.
