After calling for about two hours he watched approaching turkeys suddenly flee, then heard slow bipedal footsteps in the creek bottom. A dark figure he first mistook for a person approached to about eighty feet, grabbed a pine, vocalized angrily with language-like sounds and growls, displayed teeth, rocked and shook the tree, then walked away and gave a loud abrupt yell. The witness waited before leaving on foot, heard a loud fresh tree break, ran to his four-wheeler, left, then returned with a rifle to watch the treeline.

A couple stopped at sunset in a pullout beside a stream to eat and fish for the night. The witness heard loud crashing in brush near the truck, faint low growls from across the road, and later loud splashing from a drainage, while the companion reported finding very large, deep footprints in mud by the stream. Neither saw the source of the sounds or tracks, and they left the area feeling something large had stayed hidden nearby.

They heard several loud splashes from rocks hitting near the boat and then saw a huge upright figure in shadows on the ridge that growled. On a warm summer evening at dusk in 2000, the witness was with two dogs at the edge of a forested ravine on the property. For about 10-15 minutes the witness heard something large moving through dense brush, branches snapping, and continuous loud roars and screams that continued despite yelling. The dogs stayed beside the witness and would not investigate, and the witness then went inside for the night.
