The witness then heard a large splash in the creek followed by paired guttural growls that stopped after the witness whooped, and later described seeing a large hairy figure peeking from behind a tree across the creek.

Both spouses listened for several minutes before briefly leaving the tent and returning to sleep. The next morning the husband walked toward the sound and reported finding a large teepee-like structure of heavy cut poles with no stumps nearby. On the second night no screams were heard, but the wife reported hearing large movement in the woods while the dogs remained uneasy.

After glimpsing brown fur duck behind a log, the witness heard an extremely loud low roar-like yell from behind with crashing, then heard crashing and throwing sounds staying out of sight while leaving for about 200 yards. No full animal was clearly seen.

No creature was seen, but something large moving on two feet approached the stakeout before fleeing downhill through brush when a car passed. Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.
