The writer was contacted about large tracks in a secluded clearcut area and was escorted to a spur road. Two large human-like footprints were found in mud where a wide trail of broken vegetation came down a hill to the road. The writer photographed both prints, cast the left one, and collected a hair from between the toes for analysis.
Man finds and casts large footprints after hearing of sighting
After hearing about a reported sighting, the witness went with a companion the next morning to the described location to look for footprints. They found large footprints crossing a sandy road from a clear-cut area into a swamp, noted a long stride, depth, and disturbed tree blossoms, and made plaster casts. Three teenagers walked down a dirt road at night to take time-exposure photos of stars away from house lights. They noticed a strong foul odor and an unusual silence, became frightened, and ran back to the house. The next morning they returned and found an area of flattened brush and a very large footprint in damp soil nearby, which they photographed in black-and-white before having to leave.

The witness reports finding dozens of large five-toed footprints in wet, packed sand. Most were roughly boot-length but wider and over an inch deep, with a second deformed variant and a larger unclear print leading toward a cliff. After noticing droppings in the road, they found a trail of large bare human-like footprints with five toes leading up a bank. Five people fishing in a remote creek area found about half a dozen very large footprints that appeared to be about a week old. The tracks ran from the creek across sandy soil toward rocky brush and were described as about 17 inches long and 10 inches wide. Casts were later made from the tracks and the find was reported in newspapers.

The witness was camped beside a creek during a Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike when he heard low voice-like sounds coming from opposite ridges. Feeling uneasy as he also heard limbs and sticks breaking on the ridgeline, he broke camp and hiked out by moonlight. The next morning at a side creek he found vegetation slid down and up where something had crossed, with one large clear footprint in a sandbar, which he photographed with his foot alongside for scale.
Odor in Michigan (1977)
The guest relayed his father's account of a night when the family was home while the grandfather was away hauling freight. After a foul odor and prolonged barking by the guard dog, a long loud vocalization was heard, the dog was apparently dragged from under the chicken-coop camper, and three household members separately reported red eyes staring through windows. By morning the dog was dead and mutilated, all chickens were gone with feathers and footprints scattered, and the coop hatch had been opened from underneath.

Overnight at a cabin, the wife noticed a strong odor, heard a metallic bang on the back porch and crunching footsteps moving toward the driveway. In mid-summer 1970 the witness was driving along the Sandy River looking for a place to target shoot when he found saplings snapped off with the tops formed into a large bedding area. Nearby were several freshly gutted rabbits, a death-like smell, and unusually silent woods. He left to find a ranger station and returned with a ranger who photographed the site, after which both described themselves as becoming believers.
Youths in Summer Camp have noisy nighttime experience
The witness was sleeping in a cabin during a summer camp session when loud nighttime noises caused an uproar. A cabin-mate reportedly looked out and described multiple large, hairy, human-like figures near the water tower and cabins. The next morning the witness saw extensive human-like footprints, a large uprooted tree, and vegetation pulled from the lake. Campers were walked around the perimeter to view the traces and were sent home early.

The guest's grandfather and his brother were in the Bald Hill area during logging-era hunting. While sleeping in their car, a large ape-like creature bent down and looked in the window, leaving handprints. The grandfather kept photos of the prints and never forgot the incident.
