The witness stayed overnight with a spouse and dreamed of a phone call that turned into a growl with pressure on the face. Awake, the witness went outside with a phone and camera and heard hooting turning to growls. Later inside, a loud knock was heard, and next morning single-file divots in the grass were found going two directions.

On another night, the witness heard a loud garbled vocalization from behind the cottage, distinct from coyotes wrestling or playing. He noted a known coyote den was a third of a mile east in the opposite direction. He concluded it was not a coyote and said such sounds always occur at night.

From inside he heard the outside vending machine being rocked, crashing to the floor with glass breaking and food being grabbed. Outside he found the machine off its steel braces with chips and candy scattered and large half-wet footprints bigger than his size 14 in the mud.

While returning alone at dusk from a mushroom hunt, the witness heard cracking behind her that stopped when she stopped. She yelled for companions with no response, then ran through thick brush hearing huge long-stride steps keeping pace about ten feet behind. After tripping and falling face-first in mud, the steps stopped and she fled to her porch.
