At age nine the witness was horseback riding with an older girl near a quarry when the horses grew antsy, a strong skunk-like odor appeared, a roar was heard, and a basketball-sized rock landed near the fence. After riding home alone, she saw a very large, round-headed, broad-shouldered figure moving fast and gracefully across a cut alfalfa field, which then disappeared.

As teenagers on summer break, the witness and his friend rode dirt bikes to a remote woods, cut a new trail with machetes, and camped under pines. In the middle of the night he woke to loud crunching footsteps moving through dry leaves that grew louder as they approached along a ridge. The steps came down an embankment to their tent, paused silently without light, odor, or breathing, then returned up the ridge and faded into the distance. They waited until dawn and left quickly, at the time assuming it was a man or escaped prisoner.

Home alone in late summer, the guest heard a continuous undulating moaning from woods a half-mile west lasting hours. He walked to a neighbor's driveway to look, the moaning stopped, maple trees shook violently with no wind, then a loud roaring scream vibrated through him. The animal then ran away on all fours with an odd chimp-like gait unlike a bear. As he walked back to camp, something paced him from cover for a couple hundred yards, stepping when he stepped, until a chainsaw started at camp; he reported it to relatives who were skeptical.

They found a large area where tall weeds and trees had been matted down into a bed-like clearing with outer vegetation bent outward. They retreated to the road while the unseen source followed at a distance, staying about 100 feet away.

The witness recalls numerous puzzling occurrences from 30-40 years ago on a family farm of about 100 acres with orchards and woods. These included trees reportedly moved to block trails, an elaborate woven arch structure, large human-like footprints with long strides, rocks and a branch thrown near the witness, loud clicking exchanges, and nighttime disturbances around the barn and house. No creature was reportedly seen clearly, and the interpretation as possible Sasquatch activity developed over later years.
