He climbed a side hill and saw a still dark bear draped over a vine maple, then noticed a very large dark-brown biped standing about 50 feet away with its back turned. The creature turned and stared with red glowing eyes, prompting the witness to flee to his truck screaming, after which he refused to return to the woods and his crew left the area.

During an expedition in the Siskiyous the witness and two companions heard a powerful air-raid-siren-like scream at night while packing gear for horses to remove the next day. All three were stunned, with hair standing up and a feeling that the ground trembled.
