The witness and a friend camped in a state park and set noise-making traps around camp. The traps kept going off without visible cause, then rocks were thrown at them. They fired a warning shot and the unseen presence paced them as they left.

The pedestrian said something was following him, throwing rocks and making loud noises from a wooded hill. The witness let him in the van, drove away as rocks fell, and saw a large standing figure in the road behind them in the mirror.

Vocalizations heard near Stanislaus River, CA

On a moonlit December night, the witness hiked down an old logging road to collect sugar-pine cones and paused to enjoy the surroundings. A loud, melodious moaning wail began very close by and lasted about half a minute, rising in pitch before fading. The call was then answered in sequence by two or three more distant calls from across the river canyon. The witness left quietly without seeing anything and later wondered if the calls were a possible encounter.

Campers hear screams, and find large footprints

The witness and a companion were walking a dog on a loop trail in redwood forest when the dog lunged up a steep embankment toward crunching and branch-breaking sounds from above. They followed a short distance to a ridge and found freshly broken lower tree branches up to about ten feet high and large human-like foot impressions in the duff that lacked claw marks. The source of the noise was gone by the time they reached the top, and they returned cross-country to the main trail.

A group of hunters sitting at their campfire at night heard loud wailing, growling and howling sounds from just beyond the firelight, followed by the sound of trees snapping. They remained in camp as the sounds continued for an extended period before moving away into the woods. At daybreak they found snapped trees, uprooted brush, and heavily disturbed ground in the direction of the sounds.

Two companions hunting grouse in a remote swampy forest heard repeated loud howls and sensed a large animal moving nearby. They left their birds behind and headed toward the exit trail while the animal paralleled them through dense brush, stopping when they stopped. In a backlit clearing they observed the full outline of a tall, dark, hair-covered biped that crossed difficult terrain with remarkable speed. The animal ceased following as they reached a more traveled ridge trail.

Two companions were camping away from developed sites and sitting by a campfire in the evening when they heard loud shrill scream-growl vocalizations that seemed to come closer over time. The surrounding forest reportedly fell silent and they felt frightened and that something was close. They turned off music, readied firearms, heard another series of screams later that night, and slept with guns for protection.

At dawn the witness found the campsite duff heavily scuffed with signs of foot traffic that had not been there the previous evening.

A military policeman and four squadmates were guarding a burned helicopter crash site overnight in forested mountain terrain. Around 10 p.m. they heard loud howl-like screams from near the wreckage and advanced with a flashlight. They reported seeing three tall hair-covered bipeds scavenging the wreckage and dragging remains, then fired handguns blindly after the light was dropped. They held position until dawn, found no bodies or blood, and left without telling the crash investigators.

Three children were camping in a tent in a backyard near a canal when they heard loud dumpster noises and deep grunting from across the canal. They then heard heavy footsteps approaching and a large splash about 50 yards away as something appeared to enter the canal toward them. They fled screaming to the house, and the adult found the tent leveled, moved from its stakes, and covered in water and mud.

Two companions were camped for bass fishing at a remote pond in the national forest when they heard loud repeated whooping calls, first from up the mountain and later from less than 50 feet behind their tent. They remained still in the tent while the close calls continued for several minutes before silence returned. In the morning they found their fuel can neatly covered with stacked stones and a stringered fish missing, which they attributed to the unseen caller.

In 1985 the witness stood in a large backyard bordering pine forest late in the evening to look for a comet when an extremely loud scream came from the forest edge. While running toward the house the witness saw a very large upright creature standing in shadows at the tree line that seemed to move after the witness slipped. The witness ran inside to report it to a relative and returned the next day to sit in the branch level with where the creature's head had been.

The witness and a companion were at a house overlooking a river when they heard loud crashing from the forest across the river. They then heard vocalizations that began as grunting and a deep loud moo-like sound and rose into a very loud high-pitched scream. After vocalizing, the unseen source moved rapidly inland through the forest until its footsteps could no longer be heard. The witness concluded the sounds were made by a Bigfoot, noting the speed and distance covered did not match a cow.
