The witness and family were camped in a mountain valley for deer season when loud screams were heard at night over four nights, seeming to come closer each night until only a few hundred feet away. The sound was described as a mix of a woman screaming and a mountain lion roar. The father and uncle later reported finding a footprint on a road that was larger than the uncle's foot. The family left camp the next day.

The witness and companions were cooking catfish at a hunting camp when a noise came from the well where fish guts had been left. The witness went toward the well with a light and rifle, heard a moan, and saw a large dark form that stood upright. After shouting warnings and firing shots in the air, the witness said the form moved off and footsteps were heard in leaves. The next day large five-toed tracks were found at the well and most of the guts were gone.

After the sounds stopped he inspected the area and found very large scat and large deep tracks leading to and away from the scat. He first assumed hogs and then a very large bear made the sign, but later judged the scat too large for a Florida black bear.

The witness, traveling with four companions for target practice, left the truck and saw a tall upright figure standing on a stump overlooking the bay. The figure turned to look at the witness, stared, then turned away, turned again after the witness shouted, and walked quickly into dense forest. The companions did not see the figure but all later found prints, heard crashing branches, and noticed a faint unusual odor.

A homeowner had shot a deer and hung it in a tree behind the house. That night while going to let dogs out, he heard an unfamiliar scream and saw a large ape-like creature in the yard. The creature seized the deer and fled into the forest, tearing out a stretch of barbed-wire fence and leaving hair and tracks. A friend visiting the next day was shown where it stood and ran, including the tracks and hair.

In May/June 1986, the witness was helping a companion gather firewood on a farm when they found trees stripped of bark with snapped branches. Later, while sitting by a pond, the witness saw a very tall, muscular, reddish-brown upright creature about 100 feet away at an electric fence near tobacco trailers. The creature sniffed the air and grunted while a dog barked, then ran back into the woods. The companion's father arrived with a shotgun and found footprints larger than his boot where the creature had stood.

While visiting a creek waterfall alone, the witness heard circling footsteps and loud wood-on-tree knocks, then returned to camp. The group returned together, heard knocks nearby, and one companion briefly chased the sound before feeling lured away. That night they heard a loud splash near their island camp, and at dawn found a very large wet footprint by their canoes before leaving the area.

The witness and a companion were walking a dog on a loop trail in redwood forest when the dog lunged up a steep embankment toward crunching and branch-breaking sounds from above. They followed a short distance to a ridge and found freshly broken lower tree branches up to about ten feet high and large human-like foot impressions in the duff that lacked claw marks. The source of the noise was gone by the time they reached the top, and they returned cross-country to the main trail.

In 1985 the witness and a companion were remote camping near Patrick Creek when they heard loud primate-like screams and conversational voices from a nearby ridge around 11 p.m. During the night the witness heard heavy tramping and deep breathing just outside the tent while a normally bold dog hid trembling inside. At dawn the witness found the campsite duff heavily scuffed with signs of foot traffic that had not been there the previous evening.

Across the river in bright moonlight the witness saw a large bipedal creature shaking a big pine tree, then running in an arc into the woods. The next morning the witness and a companion found large four-toed tracks in the sand where the creature had run.

The witness was on night shift at an isolated gravel pit and walked up the hill to the porta potty during a break on a bright moonlit night. He mistook an approaching figure for a co-worker, hid to startle him, then came face to face at about 15 feet with a very large hairy biped that grunted, producing a visible cloud of breath. The creature walked into the bush and snapped a large branch, the witness fled down to the crusher, drove to town, and later returned with his friend to find a torn branch and large spaced steps leading to a ledge.

That night while sleeping atop the beached houseboat with a relative, both heard two loud distant resonant screams that rose high then dropped into a gargle-growl. The relative also later reported hearing heavy footsteps, breathing and grunting along the shore before dawn.

Later he saw a dark figure bobbing while holding a tree limb across a field, then saw a hairy long hand touching the plaster. In summer 1983 a camp leader took an assistant and nine boys on an overnight hike on Tet Ridge. During the afternoon hike they repeatedly glimpsed a large black figure at a distance and found very large tracks and broken branches high above the ground. That night at a near-summit camp the group heard multiple loud roars and stayed awake by the fire, also hearing movement below. They found no further sign on the hike out and agreed not to tell others.
